About Us

Selma Klophaus is a landscape architect practice with a zest for garden designs which delight, enchant and inspire. I love creating bespoke garden spaces and capturing the memories of yesterday and transposing them to your outdoor dream. After attending Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, the German University specialising in green engineering - I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to work with you in planning out small spaces to full-scale landscaping. I have worked with private garden owners and large estates alike, to provide stunning outdoor spaces that capture the soul. I work predominantly in the Cornwall area as well as on projects throughout the UK and abroad. After a personal site visit, as part of my work with you, I will sketch out a design for a garden to complement your home. Whatever the job, from the tiniest seed of an idea, to mighty oaks; I’ll bring my creative flair and years of experience to see it to fruition. When it's time to start planting out, I enjoy getting my hands dirty!

We worked with Selma on a recent project near Padstow in Cornwall for which we created the interiors. The sensitive restoration of the house was reflected in the beautiful garden Selma designed. She was a pleasure to work with and has wonderful attention to detail and knowledge of local plants. I am delighted with the garden Selma designed for me. There have been some flowers throughout the winter. I wanted a low maintenance garden for an octogenarian and Selma has been very successful in producing that. She advised me on what plants would be suitable and allowed me to make the final decisions. Having lost some close family members and hence in receipt of some additional money I felt I wanted to use the money in a positive way to help remember those close to me. My family were all keen gardeners but I did not inherit this trait. So I used Selma to aid the design, building and maintenance of the garden. She instantly picked up on our lifestyle, choices and time available to look after the garden and designed to most beautiful space. She put time into the creation way and above what we expected and showed excellent attention to detail. It is now perfect for what we want and need and she still keeps in touch with advice and guidance once completed. an excellent service with fantastic results.

Selma was appointed on a very large contract of a luxury home in Perranporth Cornwall for our company Burrows Construction Ltd. she produced fantastic scale drawings, set out all aspects of the work to be carried out with our foreman and masons, worked continuously to see the project through to its final detail. She is very experienced in her job, is lovely to work with, extremely hard working, and we have used her again, and will continue to do so, we have been in the building trade for over 50 years in West Cornwall and she is an asset to any building project.

Selma has worked with us for 5 years and is a really skilled garden designer, having the ability to draw up detailed plans, and arrange planting and maintenance. She is also good at organising our garden staff and is perfectly prepared to get her hands dirty if necessary. Our garden staff like her very much and appreciate her help when there is a question they are unsure about. She answers phone queries promptly and without fuss. we recommend her unreservedly.

I first met Selma several years ago when we were working on a luxury coastal project together and was enormously impressed by how she changed some rough scrubland into an exotic and magical garden. Since then I have recommended her to several clients and they have all been delighted with the result. She is a lovely gentle person who will always listen to clients’ vision of a space whilst injecting her expertise and intricate attention to detail to ensure that the result is exquisite.
