Orange Design Studio
Basement Conversion in Manchester
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars1 May 2017
“Orange Design Studio has designed a number of bespoke developments for us over the last couple of years. Their aspiration for fantastic design is at the forefront of their work. Pushing us to create something different in every scheme. They have always been very attentive with their construction drawing packages, but also extremely easy to work with on and off site. Our latest project was the Westfields Lodge conversion and extension. The scheme looks fantastic and also made the final to the northern design awards 2016! I would highly recommend Jake and his team at Orange Design Studio.”

“The service we received was exceptional. Simon was professional, knowledgeable, and listened to exactly what we wanted to do. He ensured every aspect of our project was dealt with, from start to finish, smoothly and efficiently. He took all the stress out of every step of the process. Once we were ready to proceed he had recommendations and ideas of where and who we could contact, to help us get the building work underway. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We would highly recommend Design Solutions and would certainly use them again if we required any further work.”
Architecture Unknown Ltd
Basement Conversion in Manchester
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars19 October 2020
“Architecture Unknown had the vision to guide us through a full conversion of a grade II listed building. The result is an inspirational combination of traditional Georgian features in the listed front part of the house with a modern light filled kitchen extension at the back involving a bespoke glass roof and window seat. The back elevation is a particularly impressive mix of traditional brick with modern glass and anthracite. The project was immense including full loft and cellar conversions, AU held our hands through complex relations with a myriad of professionals including party wall surveyors, conservation officers and building contractors. Much of the construction phase took place during the COVID pandemic which added an additional layer of complexity. AU were flexible and agile in an ever-changing situation and ensured safe working at all times. Their presence was calm, reassuring and professional. We would not hesitate to recommend them.”

“We undertook a massive extension and renovation project of a 1911 arts and crafts house. We were keen to incorporate eco-design elements and we were referred to Chris Rogers and GTA by our environmental consultant. From our first meeting to completion of the project Chris went above and beyond. Always coming up with good ideas that fitted our specifications. Always quick to suggest sensible solutions to problems as they arose. Always available and an invaluable point of contact between us and the contractors on site. He took us through design and planning permission, tendering, refining the scope of the works and finalising the contract with the main contractor, the build itself, snagging...everything! Our build was between July 2016 and April 2017 and I don't think we would have managed it without Chris on the team. We have no hesitation at all in recommending Chris for projects big and small (and in fact have already recommended him to friends embarking on their own projects).”

“We had a 35 year old house that was originally designed in 2 parts to suit the extended family that lived here. I approached Scott and his team to look at a full conversion into a modern house which could work as a single dwelling. The architectural redesign has honestly met all of my original requirements and surpassed my expectations. The team were easy to work with and open to design modifications in the planning stages. It's a great place to live now and I'd be very happy to recommend Scott and the team”

“Very accomplished professional company who go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with their services. I have used them to design and plan a new dwelling house, and found them to be superb from inception to completion. On budget and on time. Very innovative and 'out of the box' thinking, where necessary. Excellent knowledge of the planning system and all regulations. Very good at speaking and dealing with local planning departments and building control, and better than excellent at delivering a positive outcome.Made a huge difference to the outcome on my project, by winning over the planners with innovative changes. I would highly recommend Trinity Architecture and Design to anyone who are looking for a top quality architect.”

“When we moved into our" tired" 1920s cottage we could see it had potential, needed updating and the current layout didn`t flow however we really didn`t know where to start. James had done an excellent job for me designing an extension on a previous property( Wychwood Cottage, Oakhill) so without hesitation we knew he was the right person to help us with this project too. He listened to what we wanted from our home and on visiting immediately saw the solutions. He split the work into 3 phases and advised us of the order to do. As we are living in the property this provided the benefit of concentrating on one area at time, thereby allowing better control of our budget and securing the finish of one phase before moving one to the next and enabling a break between phases to restore our sanity rather than having to live on a building site for months on end and the risk of going over budget and unable to complete any areas. The first 2 phases were reconfiguring the current cottage to make full use of the space available. The 3 rd phase is an optional extra : the addition of an orangery which would increase space and enhance the current cottage and wonderful views it affords. We have now completed phase 1 which has most definitely provided the Cottage with the "Wow " factor achieved by knocking the existing back room and kitchen into a light airy kitchen/ diner with a working area flexible dining area and retaining the log burner and chilling out area with sofas. Altering the position of the door to the previously messy utility room has enabled a shower room with toilet to be put in whilst till retaining laundry facility, storage and space for the dogs. A stable door through optimises light and views but provides the option that any mess can be hidden if necessary! It really is a lovely space and so flexible now - all our visitors are amazed at the difference and love the light and airy homely feel. W are about to embark on phase 2 which involves swapping a bedroom and family bathroom. The bathroom will then be above the utility room which also houses the boiler with the outcome of a larger 3rd bedroom and all the unsightly pipework at the back of the house will disappear as all water and waste will be on one side of the building. Thank you James your are a true inspiration!”
