Paul has done some amazing staircase creations – as shown on his website. Stunning in fact. My project was less demanding, just a glass balustrade panel on a small landing. I also opted for the snazzy LED bottom lighting strip to give a bit of a ‘wow’ factor. I took Paul’s advice to comply with Building Regs and have him make a bespoke brushed stainless steel top rail. The rail was well made and very nicely finished, although it does look better off than on – but, that’s my decision and my risk. The gap between the sides of the glass panel and the stainless brackets are a tad too wide at 10mm (looks greater) – 2mm-3mm would have looked much better, as many others I have seen. Alas, the LED strip light failed to deliver. It just showed a series of white dots (I’m told it’s called ‘spotting’), with little (if any) light showing through to the top of the glass panel – nothing like that on the website. I raised this matter with Paul, who emailed me with some tech info on strip lighting and to say “I did see something in IKEA at Walsall a few months ago which may do the job !” This was sound advice, since I would have saved about £100 if I’d gone to IKEA in the first place. There again, if I’d obtained a glass panel from my local glazing company and the four stainless steel brackets off eBay, and left out the top rail, I’d have saved myself considerably more ££££. Overall, it pains me to say, disappointingly disappointing.

Volarus refurbished an existing carpeted staircase to a modern wood staircase with frameless glass balustrade. They also did oak flooring throughout the landing to match the stairs. They have transformed it into a stunning modern staircase and have done a first class job. Excellent quality of work. Would definitely recommend

Paul has helped me design and install a walkway and glass balustrade. It was a challenging job as a listed property and no straight walls! but I found Paul's experience invaluable and his attention to detail and passion for what he does [and his team ] shine through.
