Working with Michael on our project, Slatewater, was a most rewarding and enjoyable experience. His combination of architectural skills and knowledge with the ability to listen to our ideas and suggestions was fantastic. From inception to completion, knowing Michael had a strong hold on project management was very reassuring. We would strongly recommend Michael and his team to anyone looking to create their own unique and special home.

We hired Woodford Architecture & Interiors to provide us with initial plans for renovating a 1960's barn conversion and solving specific complex issues. we found them to be prompt, professional, friendly and very imaginative in their design solutions, which included both the broad concept and particular attention to detail. They absorbed and understood what we were looking for in every sense - I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them highly.

HM Construction
Loft Conversion in Uffculme, Devon
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars6 December 2021
HM Construction built our contemporary, eco friendly home. The build straddled one of the wettest winters on record and the 2020 Covid 19 lock down. Despite this they delivered our home from start to finish within 12 months which was an incredible performance. One of our neighbours who is a builder himself said he had never seen such a professional, hard working team. Phil and Lee, the owners of HM are a delight to work with. They have significant experience is specifying and managing jobs and present very realistic timetables and fair budgets. They also do not inflate prices for extras but work within the spirit of the contract. They keep you well informed throughout the process. Their team, which is a mixture of direct employees and sub-contractors are all delightful. They were very fair with the snagging - and were flexible in working around our plans. I have no hesitation at all about highly recommending HM for any bespoke construction work. The whole experience from start to end was an absolute pleasure.

We appointed Corbel in 2018, to restore the roof of our heritage cinema. The team were very sympathetic to the heritage, even though it was a 20th Century building. They were inventive when problems arose, able to come up with interesting alternative solutions; were always honest; never cut corners and tried to make savings wherever possible. Regular meetings with the site manager were very informative and courteous. We couldn't have wished for a better team to work with us.

SVA Architects Exeter

Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars7 April 2022
I would highly recommend SVA Architects of Exeter. Steve Varney made some excellent suggestions for our extension and the finished job looks fantastic. Better that we had hoped and well under our original budget. SVA Architects handled everything from initial design through Full Planning and Building Regs applications seamlessly. I have used a number of architects over the years, having once build our own home along with several office buildings and SVA are head and shoulders above them all!

Maria assisted us with our Grade II listed loft conversion. We were delighted with the quality of her work and attention to detail. She helped us through every stage of planning our loft conversion, from the initial designs to liaising with builder and structural engineers and producing our application for planning permission. We were impressed with the standard of her work, the speed at which she responded to our requests and the fact that she understood what we wanted from our loft conversion and was able to offer us practical and elegant solutions with the final design.

We contacted Ian at Atelier to look at the conversion of our property, a former firestation in Cornwall from its current commercial use to a residence. We have owned the former firestation for some years now and previously sought planning permission in 2008. The architects we used at the time also help to compare the quality of Ian's overall work in direct comparison with other architects and is one of the reasons for a genuine 5 star review. Ian absorbed all of our requests for the project and added his own vision based upon what was available within the confines of the existing structure. The resulting design provided exactly what we had been hoping for, allowing for contemporary accommodation with a spacious feel. Innovative use of space to create an internal /external staircase access to the 1500 sq ft flat roof to allow the creation of outdoor living space with views. Critical to the project's overall success was my requirement to be able to complete the conversion within a reasonable (for the local market and final property value) cost. This was put to the test following the receipt of building quotes from a local contractor which have been within my target spend for the development work. As with all planning cases there were a number of queries raised by the council planning team which included a request for additional levels above standard of reporting on industrial prior use. Ian was able to provide me with guidance on the request from the council where they were technical in detail and also source the necessary consultants needed to carry out the required assessment work demanded by the planners. The resultant designs have been a pleasure and have also drawn praise from the makers of the Channel 4 TV Show Remarkable Renovations who are interested to feature the property in an upcoming series.
