any recommendations for best type of back door?

We have a wooden back door and want to replace. Looking for a door that fits well and does not swell in different weather conditions. Considering UPVC? Need a cat flap cut into it. Does that work in UPVC?

Most door companies will be able to fit a cat flap into a back door. I’m not sure if this can be done with a uPVC door but you certainly can with a composite door. The supplier/fitter will be able to fit the cat flap to the door before fitting the door. Here’s an example of a composite door with a cat flap. Not cheap though but there are many suppliers.

The simplest way is to shop around with one plan so you can compare like for like. So work out the layout either yourself or with an independent pro like us. Then email or drop your plans and item list into all the showrooms that offer the look you are after. That way you are giving the retailers/trade counter/online shop what they need to price it. You won’t feel beholden to any particular showroom who you may have asked to spend time designing for you and you don’t waste ( yours and their) time with different planners/sales people from lots of places who each want to come and measure up etc . My living room door opens into the room not the hall (second pic). So you could have the door opening inwards against the longer wall in your living room? Or how about a barn door, first pic?

Slim line sliders / patio doors - recommendations

For our renovation we have gone backwards and forwards between bi-folds and sliders and have concluded that sliders is the best option (I don’t think they are cheaper though!!!) Any recommendations on type and make we should be looking for and any pics that users have bought. I’m looking at aluminium and slim line as the best option so would love if anyone knows of good companies they have used. I am based in the north west. Thanks
