That pantry and fridge/freezer! And the tappan-yaki hob and knife storage – so many clever features

wow, loving the smart hob disguise - 2 in 1, and a great storage space, this kitchen looks deliciously functional :)

You can also get a large art notebook and stick their art in it. I have one per child and then display it on a little easel on any countertop or table. Sitting down with your child and going through it is wonderful. Am also a big fan of the long thin shelves as I like changing my displays quite often. Thanks for your great article Lara.

I have a couple of friends with creative little kids, who have been plastering my house and fridge with (very welcome) artworks. Following the example of a friend with kids, a couple of the quirkier ones I've framed, and the rest get rotated and I put the old ones in a bright pink lever arch folder, each labelled on the back with their name and the date, so when they notice their picture has been rotated off the fridge I can prove I didn't chuck it! I'm so doing this if I ever have kids of my own, I've so dodged a couple of wobbly lips this way!

I also know a couple of people who scan their kids' artworks and display them in a folder on Facebook/Instagram. Okay, it's not in your house, but it's kinda cool.

Am I a fan? What?! YES!
I think my favourite part of the von Trapp house is the gate and the steps that went down into the river/lake (where the children all fall into the water). Wouldn't mind that ballroom either though...

I love the alpine balustrades, where half the design is cut out of the side of the planks, so that the gap is really the design rather than the shape of the wood. (If you can understand that.)

I'm afraid I can't do gingham, even for Julie...

I like the idea of pastel accents - subtle, lighter shades that give a room that pop sounds perfect. As somebody who loves natural materials, and pared back schemes, it's definitely a spring fling I could get used to!

I'm not normally a pastels fan, but that pistachio studio kitchen is lovely
