What are the white flowers/shrubs?

Do they stay that height? Shade tolerant? Tolerant of moist soil?

They are azaleas, and they do well here in North Carolina.

Hi, I don't think I would change to a dark grey as the white gives the house a lighter look. The day room yellow from farrow and ball - pictured - should look lovely, the yellow is a great choice and should give off a happy and welcoming vibe. I am not an expert of gardening I am afraid but personally I would go low bed (to open up the views of and from the balcony) and try and get some of the yellow in to balance it. Ooh, very pretty. Patrina, I love your lilies x. Here’s a selection of what’s flowering in my garden at mo. Yellow lilies are going over a bit and the dog tried to sneak in the pic with mini bellflowers:) My favourite is the little alpine with hanging pink and white flower. Comes back every year, no bother to look after, and bees love it. I can honestly never remember what it’s called tho. Hey ho. Lets hope we have some rain soon, my lawn is suffering, of course dog piddle doesn’t help either:)

Love your terrace. Great time to plant evergreen shrubs, in fact any shrubs. You also won’t have to water much with all the rain we’ve been having. Some shrubs are evergreen and others are deciduous (lose their leaves in autumn). Be careful with large olive trees as they can find It hard to survive our cold wet winters, that’s why you see them more in Italy and Greece rather than the Lake District. Some easy evergreen shrubs that cope well (along with max height) are: Viburnun Tinus (8 ft) Photinia (8 ft) Fatsia Japonica (10-15 ft) Mahonia (6 ft) Euonymous fortunei (2 ft spreads outwards) Lavendar (1 ft) Choisya (6ft) Pittosporum (6 ft) its good to start with evergreens, then add a few deciduous shrubs (roses, butterfly bush, hydrangeas etc) and then you can add perennials (flowers that come up year after year) and bulbs such as daffodils. I think typically, rhododendrons tend to have flowers "clumped" together, so they appear like one big bloom. Whereas, azaleas have individual flowers. Both are acid soil lovers.
