I would like to update my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (7)I agree with a small budget you can change the look simply by painting them. I'd lose the handles, fill holes and opt for self opening push door hinges, Screwfix has some but there are a few kinds. They sit inside the cupboard. Even Ikea has some. Thus handles become surplus and add a cleaner aesthetic. I'd look to painting the lime green walls. Maybe with the tiles think of a complimentary colour...Dulux Timeless classics for budget paint that is really nice actually. They have a nice one called Bone China. It's a chalky cream and will brighten the room. So cupboards could be a darker shade of something stone coloured... Look at the tiles for inspiration.. Attic 11 from Little Greene is a good colour for the cupboards.. Thus the tiles suddenly look like they belong and the walls are bright and complimentary. Don't change the work top for a small budget - I'm suggesting 2 pots of paint (walls, cupboards).. some undercoat for the cupboard doors and a few hidden door open/closers. If you don't like the idea of not having a handle, maybe try then in a different position. Horizontal along the bottom for the top cupboard. Then they are all going the same way. Little things like these changes make big impact! :))...See MoreHelp i would like to update the outside of my house
Comments (9)It's a tricky one on a budget. You need to be careful what you do, as painting the beams and just the front door are going to affect the look of the windows. Always make sure that the colour you pick is going to go well with your red brick. You could think about doing the outside in stages as and when you could afford to do so, as there are many things you could do eventually. Start by painting the Front door and two long windows either side of it to broaden the look of the entrance and do the garage door too. This will immediately change the look and make it more modern. The sagey green will go well with your brick at this point, and the greys won't look odd. Eventually for future plans, it is possible to have the mock beams removed in most instances, and you can hang tiles in that area to re-waterproof it. Then you can render the whole of the rest of the house and have it whatever colour you like. The clay tiles to hang in place of the mock tudor beams also come in a few colours including grey! See it as a long term project and just do it right slowly. Many people fail to see a long term goal and end up making costly snap decisions, slowly, slowly catchy monkey x...See MoreI'd like opinions on these two possible plans please?
Comments (11)I agree with Carolina, Option 1 makes the snug unusable. So option 2. There are no real dimensions on the plan, however, when you use the scale at the bottom, ( even though the picture kind of goes away from you making it less to scale as it goes up ) the snug area is small. There's a picture of a 3 seater sofa, which i doubt is to scale, as its smaller than the island. I'm hazarding a guess that the sofa in the pic is around 1.5 m ( so not to scale ). I hear what you're saying about 4 bathrooms. The 2 rooms upstairs are good they share a well proportioned bathroom. However, I dislike the shower room for 2 bedrooms downstairs. With this configuration you have no En-Suites, which is a shame with all that work. It's too hard to re-configure with no dimensions, but I feel that there is a better version for the plan with regards the snug and the bedroom bathroom idea downstairs. Which room is to be the Master? I think i'd be aiming for the master downstairs bottom right with an En-suite. The shower room downstairs for everyday use and for the use of bedroom 2 and then the upstairs for guests / others with the shared use of the 1 bathroom....See MoreWould love some opinions on whether this layout would work okay.
Comments (22)Having just helped my daughter plan her kitchen and knowing the costs and how important it is to get it right, I thought you might value another opinion! I too cannot see any practical or design value in your ovens being positioned as they are. It’s going to be a lovely space with opportunity elsewhere to create a great layout/ design, and if it were mine I’d stick with placing the ovens inside normal oven housing units, which will not detract from the overall design, but neither will it draw the eye in a negative way to them as their current placing does....See MoreUser
