love this mural! What green did you use for the doors and trims? Also what is the main green for the grass/bottom part of the mural?

Hi. We were using Dulux emulsion and satinwood at the time but they have since changed the opacity and we only use Valspar now. The woodwork was in Dulux Soft Moss 2 https://www.dulux.co.uk/shop/colour/soft_moss_2
The walls were in Woodland Fern 3 https://www.dulux.co.uk/shop/colour/woodland_fern_3

Thank you Celerygirl and everyone else. I think I have made my decision now for now. Black !!! I am going to have the door frames, sidelights and door in Black and centralised, the brick work extended at the top of the frame and a roof light installed in the roof. Its exactly what I didn't think I wanted but what sits right with me. Many thanks for all of your help I will update you all with the result in November when we are due to carry out the work.

Hi Mally, From the image it looks like your house has soft mud bricks on the exterior. Bricks have a dominant character in nature. They may steal the focus point at glance from your front door. Deep-tone coloured doors complements brick I would advise to have white or same colour shaded windows and door frames. Dark shades can be elegant, welcoming colors . Additional tip , you might consider carrying the same style to the garage door. As it will create a design flow throughout the front view. Please do not hesitate to connect me for more assistance. Thank you for all the comments! We decided against green partly as I think it would be too much of a contrast - I don’t want the room to be even more fussy - and partly because we have dark blue sofas, and I’m not a fan of blue and green. The pink is a good rich tone and matches the pink in the wallpaper well. I’ve tried to pick out three key colours for the room - pink, blue and white (or orange), plus some highlight colours - yellow, teal and orange (or white). The thinking behind this is that at the top and bottom of the walls the main colours in the wallpaper are pink, orange and white (which also makes me unsure that green would work at skirting level, while the pink might be less drastic). We already have some pink in the room (lamps, cushions) and it works. So there is a kind of method to my madness! I love the idea of floor-length curtains and was originally planning on that but they can’t be hung around the window seat. Thank you for all the help and advice - I wish I’d come on here years ago as this room has been a real headache! We love the wallpaper though and are determined to make it work. The blinds have already been ordered in the fabric shown!!!!!! - I’ll report back with a photo. If it’s a disaster I guess I can make a lot of cushions... x

The brick red stands out, and not in a good way - the red makes your house look yellow. Also, I have never seen trim done like that before (along the bottom of the house and at the corners??). I mean this kindly, but that does not look good. In addition, there is no need to carry the trim color to the fence, and the bench, and the retaining wall....it's way too much, in any color. I would remove that trim by painting it the same cream as the house. This would be much fresher than keeping that trim, in any color. For an accent color, consider painting just the fascia. It would be subtle and classic. With cream, you could do a navy, a white, a gray. Not sure about green - I just don't have experience with it. But you have several colors going on without the accent color, so there is already plenty to look at. No need to paint everything from the lawn to the lane the same color as the trim, or the same color as the house itself. Just put the trim color in one spot (aside from the house) - like the top of the fence/retaining wall OR the strip on the bottom of the fence that is red. Not both! Also, no need to paint the main part of the fence the same color as the house. For example, let's say you choose navy for an accent color, so the fascia and top of the fence are navy. The rest of the fence can be a complementary color - tan, gray, brown would all look good with navy and cream. I hope you'll post photos after you're finished! Very pretty house
