Converting double garage into studio

I want to turn our built in double garage into a living space/bed/studio with shower room for my 22 year old son. Can anyone offer any advice or photos for ideas please ?

If you change your uk Houzz settings to usa - then look on the idea books and search garage conversions - there's loads up look at - doesn't seem to work though of you keep uk settings ?!?

I'm converting my garage into an extra room and came up with some floor plans. I intend to steal 1m. on the back wall and put sliding doors right across with shelves etc. to hide all my books and house the tv. This leaves room for a settee facing the tv with a coffee table in front. I intend to remove the 'up and over' garage door and replace with a 'French' window. Hi One Plan, things have moved on since this last post...dont know if you recall you helped to put me in touch with a builder who was commenting on my dilemma who happenend to be based in the NE England? Well in the end we are using his services....huge,huge job so its taking a long time, if you see my photos you will see prertty much a building site at the moment but I am hoping all goes well, so thanks for helping us out!

Hi Just Add Popcorn Limited. That is such a great idea. We like that you break up the space into both storage and entertainment. Garageflex - That is also very true, storage space is very valuable, especially in newer homes that are being converted substantially. In this case, a combination space sounds like it could be the best of both worlds for some homeowners!

Hi Zoe,

The first consideration is insulation. You need to check if the garage concrete floor is non insulated as this would then need insulating (along with the walls) and this may present the need to create a step up into a raised floor (insulation underneath)
