Butcher block set into granite?

Putting 6'wide x 4' island in our remodel. It will have 10" overhang for seating on back side / dual ovens next to each other under the counter on the work side. Picked up a piece of granite large enough to cover at very reasonable price at an auction. Have a beautiful piece of butcher block counter that has never been installed 30" wide x 23". I want to cut out the granite & have the butcher block set into it -- centered on the work side --finished front even with the granite. I'm thinking it will be a nice look & very handy .... My husbands not so sure ... Any thoughts?
