Wooden or laminate worktops?
Comments (15)Thank you so much, all of you, for your very helpful advice. It's official - I'm going for wood! As well as all your comments, after I got home tonight I (sunflower) oiled all my wooden table and it looked fantastic, so warm & rich in colour. It was the first thing the hubby noticed when he walked through the door so that tells you something! And I thought that if I can just remember to do this every 6 monthly with the worktops then it really will look fabulous. And that's very interesting about what's happened to your laminate edges Chalkandbell, oh and the tip about wiping the edges dry after use. This advice is exactly what I was after - the kitchen companies will always say it's minimal upkeep but I really needed to hear from those who actually work with it every day. Thank you all. Comments (5)Thanks Victoria. That's just what we're after and almost perfect... except it's 10cm too wide. I'm just not sure if there is any way round that, e.g. widening the cabinet frame with an extra slat of wood at the sides.... the doors will be made to measure so could cover all that, but I'm not sure how the hinges would work and I'd prefer it if they were functional......See Moremulticoloured glass splashback, what tiles?
Comments (18)I did wonder if I could get away with paint instead of tiles. The room is just too small for two tables. One wall will be bare to free up space. One wall is the understairs cupboard, where the fridge freezer will be, one wall has the window and sink, one will have the cooker in the chimney breast and a full height pantry in one of the niches. The other niche I was planning to put kitchen units including a corner unit connected to the sink unit. Here's a plan which also shows how the current kitchen will be converted into a shower room and utility....See Morekiki D
