Dulux heritage wall colours

Have any houzzers used the dulux heritage colours. I am looking for a hall colour for a 3 story high rental property. I would like a depth of colour but all wood work is going to be hardwearing brilliant white. I love dirty greens, dirty pinks etc as a a few large gilt edged framed paintings will be added.
Know the F&B colours inside out & love their stony ground, smoked trout, plaster pink which will be going in other rooms. Rest will be brilliant white. so stuck with hall as it is dark at the bottom & lightens as it goes up! have to use dulux in the hall. The dulux website is atrocious, giving phone numbers that don't work & pretty ghastly rooms with one trick pony furniture. is my frustration coming out!

Why don't you just go into Brewers?

Don't understand why you need the phone numbers.

Dulux is superior to F&B in every sense of the word. Would highly recommend them.

The heritage section is also a good choice.

Craig & Rose are great. Heritage colours, beautiful paint to use (always covers in two, even on naked plaster), the brand has real history, and price wise it's only a few quid off what you'd pay for dulux or crown in b&q. Laura Ashley paint is lovely too if you want that deeply pigmented chalky look for less than F&B prices.

Hi Nayem, I'm afraid it's quite impossible to tell you which off white would be best for your room. The same colour can look very different in different rooms since the natural light changes the way we see colours. And the natural light is different in every room (depending on how much natural light your room has, is the room north/east/south/west facing, etc). The only way to get the colour right is to buy sample pots and paint a small section of the wall with different colours. Then study how the colours looks like at different times of a day and see which one you like best. If you are not sure where to start, start with Dulux Grey Steel 3 and Grey Steel 4. That should give you a good starting point. Whatever you do, stay away from any cream colours (magnolia etc) when you are looking to create a Scandinavian style look. Kati

Hi Kate, You could just embrace the dark side! Some battles are not worth fighting. We have a north facing living room too. One wall is almost entirely glass, but it's still the darkest room in the house. It had a very gloomy feel when we moved in a few years ago and we would have to put the lights on during the day even though it was a bright off white colour, but I've since painted it a dark slate grey. Now it looks great. It has a very cosy feel. I've brightened it up with pops of colour, lighting and mirrors. So sometimes I think its okay to accept that its never going to be a bright room and just add lots of artificial lighting to brighten it up. It also gives you the excuse to try out a deep rich colours which you might never have considered before!

Linen White is the lightest of all and belongs to the Yellow-Red Hue Family. So that peachy/pinkness you notice is an inherent part of its colour DNA. It’s not a very colourful colour but it still has enough Chroma for you to notice. Ash White + Chiltern White are both light, near neutrals from the Yellow Hue Family. Ash White is both a little lighter (higher Value) and more neutral, (lower Chroma) than Chiltern White. Personally I would still want to sample whichever you choose, to see how it behaves in your space. They may well appear the light near neutrals you imagine them to be, but both have the capacity to shift and look a little lilac in certain imbalanced lighting. Stay away from Dulux, if you're looking for heritage try 'Benjamin Moore', ' Little Green', or even the 'Mythic' paint range. Much better quality than Dulux.
