Hi Steve,

That's a question for a builder I'm afraid, They would supply the materials and the labour. Print off the pic and show your builder and ask him to quote you for some thing similar.

A well piced option would be faux brick panels. Brick work panels can be really convincing and most of the brick walls you see in pubs, restraurants and bars are in fact faux panels. An advantage is that panels have a much shallower depth than real brick, come in a variety of colours and the surfaces come ready finished so don't need sealing. I recommend you have a look at Faux Brickwork http://www.fauxbrickwork.com/ where you can order samples before placing an order. The panels can be installed by your builder or Faux Brickwork can send along their own fitters. Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

Can't you just board over them? NZ & French houses don't have exposed pipework, it's all in the walls as they have timber frame houses. I'd get a builder to build a timber framework and board over the top also boxing in the waste disposal. If you want acess to the waste disposal, you could make it look like a cupboard. Get a few quotes and see what the cost would be, it's probably less than you think.

From what i'm reading, I think you have only two choices on actual brick walls. The one with the cooker is an outside wall isn't it?? .....and then the one with the clock. Totally depends on how much work you want to make for yourself. If you just want to 'dip a toe', then go for the one with the clock. If you want to go all out then do the one with the cooker and hob. However..........and we have done a few of these now........that is Victorian houses...........Lyme plaster is a pain to work with!. Once you touch one bit 10 minutes later you've got a patch 3'x3', then you get bits that feel like they're welded on! Also, we have found on many of the houses that we have done full renovations on, the Victorians were fond of an 'anything goes' brick size approach! So be prepared to unearth allsorts and more importantly, be prepared to have to re-point most , if not all of the brickwork with Lyme mortar and then seal it! It isn't for the feint hearted. Here's an old Chimney breast that we did a few years ago in an Attic Bedroom. ( Before and After ) and finally ones on a Chimney breast from a different house. That's me in the photo !!! Have fun

being a big fan of all things rustic , I would say not only leave brick but go 1 step more and make that brick wall as bold as it can be. bring back it's original brown appeal or even paint it that rustic bold brown that any brick decor deserves. that said, some pics wouldve helped a lot here because sometimes going old isn't always the best option hah

Hand held angle grinder and patience. You also need to consider how you intend to fill the gaps where the bricks are broken within the wall structure. Also do you own the wall or is it a neighbouring property as hacking off their bricks is a real no no! Might be an idea to attach a trellis and grow something over these as they are not attractive bricks.
