What's your kitchen space like? Do you have enough storage or is it a challenge to fit everything in?

It seems the more space I have, the bigger my urge is to fill it up! I think it might be my shopping addiction rather than my kitchen storage space that is the problem!

I desperately need more storage! When I open my cupboards in the morning, my flatmates' cereal boxes come tumbling down on my head every time without fail :(

I never, ever change mine. I use a butcher block and a huge thick wooden cutting board, only taking care to keep my fruits from suddenly tasting like onions or garlic. Studies have shown that a wooden cutting board is naturally resistant to bacteria, so I scrape and then wash mine off with soap and water after use. All this absurd paranoia about cleanliness is the product of marketing, not science, and the supposedly more sterile plastic ones are actually much better petri dishes for bacterial growth, which is why they must be cleaned and disposed of regularly. Fine if you want to keep plastic cutting board manufacturers in China working, but not at all safer or cleaner.

A flickering flame surrounded by ancient carved stone - Antique stone fireplaces add both character and a sense of place to any room, the knocks and bumps of the decades nay centuries, connecting hearth to home. Even with the advent of central and underfloor heating we crave that focal gathering point that a fireplace provides - a room without a fireplace? Nowhere to hang the picture, mirror or tapestry, no were to put your cards and certainly no place to hang your Christmas stocking!

As no-one stays anymore, I swapped my lounge with my spare room (flat). I now have a lovely square lounge just for TV and chats etc. My spare bed is in my new 'craft room' just in case but it is covered with paper, clay, frames, paint and records. I paint and listen to old rock and metal that I can shout along to!!!

We keep all of our sharp knives in their own drawer, which has a magnetic bar to keep them in place and to stop them from rubbing on each other and losing their edge. I can't bear too much clutter out on the worktop. Besides, if a murdering maniac bursts in, I don't want to make it too easy for him. I'd like to think by the time, he's opened all the drawers to find the knives, the police will have arrived. LOL

I once read in a Houzz article about using shed space for seasonal items to free up space in the kitchen. I love this. Pots/pans and big things a challenge, and if I honest many only get used once a year. Also too many mugs!!

I have packed a lot of seldom used crockery etc in plastic storage boxes and store them in the garage. It still doesn't give me enough room in my tiny kitchen. I have already got rid of completely unused crockery and my toaster but still have a problem with anything which may get damaged by dampness such as anything electric.

The kitchen is big but the cupboards are so poorly designed I can't fit in everything I brought from my old kitchen which was smaller!

The Blum space drawers in the picture are one of our best sellers. I love Blum and their organisational ideas. I do a plan with nearly every customer on where they will put their belongings after they move back in!

I'm doing better for storage, thanks to my lovely French dresser, than I am for work surfaces which are in short supply.

We've recently moved to a house with a much smaller kitchen. We put in new cabinets - including 2 tall larder cupboards which hold all of the stuff from our previous larger kitchen. Would definitely recommend.

I have plenty storage place. We also moved house and in that move I was ruthless. If I hadn't used it in over a year, the likely hood of me using it in the new home was even less likely. So it went into for a "new homeowner item box". I've not missed one of the items. The only thing I've bought was a medium size frying pan. That fits in perfectly.

My kitchen is small - just under 11ft x 11ft and it was superbly designed. For the first time ever I have everything I need in an easy to reach organised space. I have a tall larder unit which is priceless and my cupboards reach back into the corners (and it's in these that I store my rarely used crockery.) This kitchen is smaller than my last but due to clever design it holds far more and I am very pleased with it (including a dishwasher, tumble dryer, washing machine.)

Supergirlvintage - your 11 foot x 11 foot is *huge* compared to most London kitchens!

My worst kitchen was 6 foot by 2 foot, you had to open the door then open the oven so you could open the cutlery drawer. For me it's less about size, and more about adequate surface space - always need more!

I have a galley kitchen and limited storage within my reach. Some would say this is a bad thing but I disagree. It stops me shopping for kitchen items unless I am replacing broken items. This way I save space, money and energy!

no..... no matter how big the kitchen is, I can still fill it up and not enough space , that's my experience of the last ten years..... lol

You asked if there is enough storage, but the poll answers are nothing to do with the question!.... or are you saying that tiny kitchens "CAN'T" have enough storage, and if you DO have enough storage your kitchen must be massive/spacious... lol
