Decorator refused to wallpaper our room - please help
Comments (92)I love Josette wallpaper. I used it on my chimney breast in my old bedroom. Loved it so much, another shade went up under the dado up the stairs and in the hall in my house too. We then moved and we have it now in our new bedroom in yet another shade! I put the paper up in my old bedroom. It’s tricky but not the worst paper I have ever hung....See Morewallpaper/paint advice please
Comments (11)Hi. Has the coving been purchased already? I would be tempted to leave it personally, it may fight with the stove. I agree with others an olive green or maybe a grey for the alcoves. Has the rest of the room been painted? I think you need to introduce colour, you've got the striking pink and olive in your blinds but there isn't colour in the rest of the room, and texture as there's a lot of wood. I'd look at kitchen accessories. Maybe look at painting dining table legs and chairs (if you want a country look!). If not maybe a table runner and cushions with a big vase of flowers. I'd put an occasional chair to the left of the stove. It will make the area cosy and hopefully cover the sockets. I'd add a basket for logs the other side ( although not convinced it's a wood burner?!). Maybe have a rug in front of the hearth or if you like them as some people don't, put one under the table. I'd also look at the furniture arrangement, there looks to be space to pull the dining table out from the wall? Maybe also pendant lights for over the breakfast bar and potentially one in the dining space? Do also look at plants and herbs, they'll pick up the green and look great in a kitchen. I think also a bigger piece of art over the radiator and maybe move the art either side of the clock elsewhere...See MoreHelp! Need to choose farrow and ball paint today
Comments (11)Morning, From what you have said, I would go for James White which has green undertones rather than yellow understones like the White Tie. James White is fine for Exterior Masonary and you will see that option when you purchase. I would then pair that with the French Grey for the front door/woodwork. This is a classic colourway of theres specifically made for outside woodwork. It's the one you see on small pretty cottages. The colours works well with the James White and sits beautifully outside. Any colours with greener undertones will work better outside as they will harmonise better with the other colours from nature and not look so out of place when aging or getting slightly dirty with time. I hope this helps a little and if you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.. and of course.. keep us posted! Regards, Gina...See MoreHall & landing paint advice please
Comments (14)Agree with GD11 - a warm white or grey will work well all year. As you have a porch in front of the door that is limiting light coming in and especially in winter you will find some greens and blue very depressing. I would also ditch the stair gates. We had one for the first child and he kept playing with it, so we just taught him not to go near the stairs and he learned to bump, or more normally slide down the stairs. never bothered with a gate at all for my other kids. How nice is it not to have to open and close a gate every time you need to go up and down the stairs? It is only the illusion of safety....See MoreZ Stevens
