Sliding, Bi-Fold or Patio doors?
Comments (6)I had hardwood bi-folds fitted last year and it took me ages to decide what to get. The reason I finally chose bi-folds was I use all my garden doors several times a day even in the winter and just opening the one section is easy and folds back neatly and doesn’t catch the wind as easily. There also have magnetic catches. And opening three sections is very neat and gives the biggest opening. However these openings are only two metres wide. Where I have a 2.4 opening I’ve got French windows and the 60cm doors fold back and hook onto the side windows well. Tbh bi-folds aren’t my favourite but they best suited the openings....See MoreBifold, sliding or french?
Comments (10)Hi Laura! I believe the question is strongly related to what your design scheme is for the said room. It might very well be that either french/sliding/bifold doors work best but all in relation to the design of your kitchen cabinets and units, colours and materials (if I understand correctly that this room will be the kitchen/dining area). However, one thing to keep in mind is that if do opt for the bifold doors, they will occupy a bit of space when they open all the way, so you would need that space cleared of any furniture (unless you wish to move it when you open the doors). If you do have the space for that, then that is brilliant. Personally, I think these work best because when they are completely opened, you have an unobstructed view of the garden. In the end, it's a matter of space, taste, design and if it can be done from a structural point of view (as it is an exterior wall after all and having these type of doors can create a big gap/opening in the wall). Hope this helps....See MoreIs it all about bifolds now /French doors outdated?
Comments (6)Good that they are more affordable! I just love the Character of French doors. Even tho I will be adding modern touches in my renovation I feel they will also suit my 1920s home better. Thanks...See MoreBifolds or french doors in a loft conversion?
