Thoughts on plantation shutters?
Comments (77)We love our shutters! We live on a busy street and the shutters give us the privacy we need, and also smarter up our windows. We have wanted shutters for ages, and received a few quotes which were all so different, but too expensive for us. A couple of months ago we came across a company www.shuttershack.co.uk they are the sister company of a already established company. Anyway we ordered ours as DIY shutters which saved us literally ££'s. We have fitted ourselves. But they do offer a fitting service, which still seems a lot cheaper than other companies. Happy days....See MoreHelp with exterior door decisions......
Comments (10)In my humble opinion there is not much to root this house to its 1915 origins so you have two options. To get a period style door and door furniture then I would choose a colour that helps the door furniture stand out. I prefer garage doors to match but feel that the side gate rarely has to match the house it needs to match the garden. Alternatively you could go modern with the door. If this were my house I think I would have a contemporary front door with grand proportions to suit the house. I would have a similar garage door. Lastly I might consider window boxes rather than shutters as shutters visually widen the window but window boxes lengthen them which would help preserve the symmetry you seem to be trying to achieve....See MoreVictorian Renovation in London Part 4 - snagging and garden

Comments (34)Yes anon2005 I’ve just painted my new under the stairs cupboard in Dix blue and everyone who comes in the house says how much they like it. I’m really pleased with it. I’m toying with painting the whole hallway with it. I find Farrow and Ball colours work well in our UK bluish light, whereas some brighter colours can look a bit garish sometimes. I’ve even cheated when I couldn’t wait for it to come into stock and got it colour mixed at Dulux....See Morepaulakopasz
