Comments (13)Hi. I would probably declutter first. There is an awful lot of furniture in the room. I would get rid of the cabinet on the fireplace wall and move the tv on top of the chest of drawers. Remove the coffee tables and the pine chair and the items on top of the wardrobe. I'd remove the 3 pictures and replace with a very large piece of art, I don't know what you like but something vintage or contemporary ie travel, cinema, typography, street signs etc. Walls could look good in grey but choose a warmer grey, a cold grey doesn't look as it if would work. Or you could go for a rich, deep colour on a feature wall. What colours, style do you like? New bedding to coordinate and I'd add just one large statement cushion. We recently completed a project where we did just that - a wrap around built in unit was designed that incorporated the bed, cupboards, desk and shelving. This room was tiny and we placed the built in bed against the wall and under the window to make space for everything else. The client painted the whole room in blue in this case (very much on trend at the moment) -you can see that even though the room has only a tiny window it still looks quite light - so don't be afraid of colour. Comments (27)Hi, The room is lovely. It's clean and contemporary and gives the feel you want. If you want it to feel more grand you need to think more grand. A larger headboard. You need it dominate the space. Grey is fine but increase the height by at least double what you can see already. The bed needs to be focal and will stop the 'flat' feeling that some people are getting. Same with curtains. Go over sized, draped on the floor luxurious texture. You're getting there. It's a great space. If you add colour it will take away from the crisp look and style the space has now so maybe play around with it but I don't think it's required for what you are trying to achieve. Now I'm thinking about wallpapering behind the bed - I don't think it will cost that much as it's a fairly small area and we have some supplies already. 9 years agoThat makes sense, no frozen characters then?! I think I'd go for duck egg walls with a bit of a woodland theme. Something similarish to this image from Benjamin Moore. Add a large tree wall decal in a corner (which can be removed later) and either colourful butterfly decals or the ones you can attach to the walls placed in a flock (?!)over the bed. Alternatively try a bed canopy, this is from vertbaudet, as is the chair. They have quite a few cute bits at a reasonable prices, do also look at their curtains. Dress the bed with animal shaped cushions in different colours and add a colourful rug. Try not on the high street for owls or lullabuy.co.uk and the fox is from design55online. I can't find a good cat one yet! Add a white black out roller blind and maybe some light white or voile type curtains with flowers or butterflies.

Personally I might be tempted by a real or fake branch with fairy lights but that may be a bit far! You could stick to the White or duck egg walls and just add pastel accessories to keep it calm. This white tree is from ebay, it shows a cot but I don't think this is restricted to a young child. As long as you keep your walls, floor and curtains neutral, the room will grow with your daughter. Follow go in from mrsmcee suggestion, scion also do the cute Mr fox wallpaper which also come in light shades

9 years agoYou don't need to avoid characters completely just incorporate them in a way that can be updated as they grow. I didn't want borders or wallpaper that would become dated so I framed posters of Disney characters for my son's nursery. Now he's 4 and loves all things Marvel so I'm about to replace them with posters of his favourite superhero's.

8 years agoHow about various Browns and beiges with white furniture accessories making it neutral, it can be jazzed up with different funky bed covers as she gets older, it's not too girly or too themed towards one thing and is very easy to build different colour themes around.

7 years agoI would recommend white painted walls. Add accessories that are colorful if you wish. You can change it anytime you want. Depending on the space, I would definitely add something like raw thick tree branch. You can then make some fairy doors on it in color. Interaction with a child making these doors :)
I would also choose funky prints of animals over the decals. Or have some animal heads hung on the walls.
Children loves cozy spaces canopy is the thin. I would recommend Numero 74. I love their range of colors and quality.
Add some cool pillows. If you are into diy, make some. Paint on it, embroider, use different techniques to apply color and texture to the room.
Have more than one lighting source: fairylights, floor lamp, etc.
If you want something really cool: cover ceiling in polka dots. Don't paint it. You can cut out some cardpaper circles and stick it with blutack. Use different sizes one color rather than having different colors. Take it off when tired of it easily.
Enjoy decorating the room :)

Her designs are beautiful and would be at home in even in an adult room, so there's no need to worry about your little girl growing out of it too quickly! Hope that gives you some ideas!
