White kitchen worktops

I'm using white gloss kitchen units and was wondering what type of worktop you have used. Trying to find a bright white to match units. I need a hard wearing top as the flat will be rented out . Thank you

The worktop that has been used is corian. It is a lovely material and could be shaped to what you would like but it is expensive and can be easily scratched. A laminate worktop is probably best for renting as it is durable and cheap. Thank you I was trying to avoid laminate as the apartment will be used for high end lets..although corian an as you say is probably too expensive.

Hello Guy, You could go for white kitchen worktop to achieve the Scandinavian look. We have recently finished a project where the client desired to have white glass kitchen worktop, it looks amazing! You could think of wooden worktop too. Scandinavian style kitchens are white and minimalistic with some lovely features. Walls are kept white and it' nice to add some ornaments as well. I have black granite work tops and a huge amount of them and an island - my reason for choosing is that I believe granite is a lot stronger in the dark colours where as marble is stronger in the light colours - I am (hope husband doesn't see this!) a little bit bored of the black work tops - they are classic but a bit dead - next time, if there is ever a next time, I would not play so safe and would go for light work tops with a bit more interest. I would steer clear of work tops unless you are prepared to really look after them and treat them regularly! As for walls - I would go light - and ensure it is a paint that you can wash splattering off! Not a basic emulsion! That way, by going light you can change colour of kitchen accessories at any time to freshen it up and update it. If I was planning a new kitchen now, I would probably go for light tops with up stands and then have a feature surface in a different material - perhaps a rounded wooden block at the end of a unit as a feature. I love my kitchen but I have played it a bit safe, on reflection!!

For quartz cheaper than Silestone & Caesarstone, you have to be careful that you are getting good quality. Some alternatives aren't good. And by good quality, I mean good quality quartz, good quality machining, templating, flexibility at installation (e.g. some machining on site can be helpful to ensure tidy up stands, edges) etc. I went through finding an alternative earlier this year. My research led me to two companies. One was Rock & Co which offers a product called Urban Quartz in a large range of colours. They have a showroom in Hertfordshire, near St Albans. There was also another company called Cambridge Worktops which is linked to Stoneworld in Kendal, which offered a quartz product called Cliveden Quartz. . There were minor differences between what they were offering in terms of the quartz products and their processing, and logistics -- and each company wanted me to believe that their approach was great and the other's approach was inappropriate. But after a lot of questioning I had the feeling that I was willing to deal with either company. And in both cases their prices involved a significant saving. In the end I contracted with Rock & Co because they had the shade of off white that I liked best. They exceeded my expectations in some respects; met expectations in many respects, and fell short just in some. So I can't say the process was issue free, but I can same that I am overall happy, and that our quartz countertop is now installed and it looks amazing.

Thanks ‘Man about the house’, we hope to house the boiler, but as it’s non-standard size (it’s a commercial sized boiler) we are exploring doing a bespoke cabinet with a standard door but this depends on the cost! I like the idea of a light and airy kitchen - will definitely explore this. For cabinet doors, am now thinking perhaps f&b ammonite coloured doors but worried that grey won’t be in fashion in a few years so perhaps looking at colours that are more classical/light such as f&b old white or James white. Currently testing these colours on our kitchen wall! Will post pictures when am home.

I would recommend that you look at our range of Teltos, Bianco Assoluto. Teltos is a high quality stone and lower cost than many other stone materials.

The only problem with trying to match pure white with pure
white, there will also be a colour difference and it will stand out. It would be
better to go for a complete colour contrast.

Hi

We regularly do Silestone Blanco Zues white quartz worktops with the crystal white colour from Schueller kitchens. this is always a pretty good match. You can see this combination on one of our projects in our Houzz profile.

I've got Compac White Mirror Quartz which is very hardwearing. It has low porosity so resists stains and doesn't need the sealing that granite does. I've had it three years and not managed to stain it despite being messy. A bit of bleach gets rid of anything. it's not a bright white though as it has grey flecks. The mirror adds a nice bit of bling though.
