I love the look you're going for so far, it looks very contemporary but i think it's lacking some of that vital 'pop' which makes the room really stand out. I have a couple of theories as to why this is; firstly, your colour scheme is very nice but is perhaps a bit lacking, resulting in a monochromatic palette which doesn't really do the space any favours. Take a look at some matching colour palettes for interior design here: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/Color-Palettes Secondly, I think the room is lacking a central focal point which grounds the rest of the interior design and complements it. Right now, I'm just seeing too much of an open space. I never thought I'd say this but you could do with a little bit of clutter! My attention is also drawn to the bed area. The bedside table is nice, but see-through lamp is very strange and doesn't add any warmth to the room a slighting should. Hi Louise, this is a really interesting discussion, thank you for sharing and looks like it was a great feature! Me personally, I think the secret of my success is being passionate and loving what I do. Then everything else follows naturally! To achieve a work/life balance I have to be quite strict with myself, and recognise I need time to relax to be at my best. I am currently really inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle - my boyfriend is Danish and I am trying to learn more about 'Hygge'. It's all about being comfortable, getting cosy and appreciating the little things such as a hot cup of coffee and lighting candles. That being said, with Summer approaching I'm excited to start spending more time outdoors - pretty sunsets always inspire me and make me feel good!

Nice post. Yes, I agree. Particularly, re: number 4, customers often purchase lights with silver fittings to go with other features but it's far better to go for black or olive green etc., as these appear almost 'invisible' in the garden. Far better to accentuate stunning planting or a beautiful sculpture, than have a garden filled with shiny metal fittings.
