Concrete block walls need covering

We have a small, full block cottage on Lake Erie. It's a strange type of block in that it's very porous (see photo). Does anyone have any experience with this? Any experience on how to cover it up? The cottage is seasonal (no insulation / single pane windows). Drywalling isn't really an option because the rooms are small (one bedroom is 8'x9'). The cottage is on a concrete slab and it does get a bit damp. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
