Which window dressing for bay Crittal window?
Comments (21)I too thought shutters would block out too much light, but the look when fitted is so lovely, and with wider size slats, the more light they let in. The pics below have small slats but its the same style of bay with shutters. Also don't have the push rods on the front if you want a cleaner look. Having the slats split so top/bottom open separately like pic below is also good if you want privacy without shutting out light from the top. High gloss shutters also reflect light into the room and shutters seem to go with any look, period or contemporary....See Moreanthracite grey windows on old house - ADVICE PLEASE
Comments (12)Hi Maja Anthracite grey is a wonderful colour, and probably the most popular on all our products at the moment! They look amazing on houses, although sometimes the brick colour or rendering can mean they may be too dark or perhaps need less contrast, so they may not be right for everybody. A recent customer's house had a visible dark roof, so anthracite grey was a bit too much, and they chose a pale grey instead... I think your brick colour is lovely and pale so will contrast very nicely and will look amazing with anthracite grey - especially in the sunshine! Finished with a timber effect foil, you will hardly notice the difference between uPVC and original timber - except you will be getting all the benefits of a modern maintenance free window. You may want to look at a Solidor Composite Front Door to further enhance the look, security and low maintence qualities to the doors and windows of your home....See Morewindow dressing a French window?
Comments (9)Hi Susie, you said above that you are going for a Roman blind and wanted some advice on the fitting. Below are some points to consider. You can buy Roman blinds with various backings. As this is your bedroom, ensure that it definitely comes with a blackout rather than a dimout backing. If it is surface-mounted (i.e., outside of the window frame) then less light will appear down the two sides of the fabric. If it is recessed, you are likely to experience more ‘light ingress’. You can choose to have it manually-operated (e.g., via chains made of plastic or metal beads) or remote-controlled (via mains or rechargeable batteries). Although a powered blind is more expensive, it is rather fun to operate it from the comfort of your bed. You can even have it opening and closing automatically at sunrise and sunset (or at other periods) via a timer that knows your longitude and latitude, or from abroad (for security reasons) via a smart phone if you are into technological living! Comments (2)I would not combine a white or off white render with white windows. One makes the other look 'off' as they don't match. I think you can combine with any shade of grey and have a different colour front door. You can also, go outside the 'Grey' box that we're all in currently. Buff, or any neutral colour will look nice with a white render. Usually I would also say that the window colour is dictated to predominantly by the roof colour, as grey with a red roof tile, doesn't look nice. Grey with grey roof tiles is lovely for instance. Can you post a picture of the house? It's a lot easier to suggest things with visuals of the look of the place....See Moreitakr
