How could I dress my window to stop a nosy neighbour looking in?
Comments (16)Hello Rosie, Okaaay..... THAT boy needs a hobby and it "ain't" you! Here's what you could do in a subtle way that doesn't necessarily say. "I know what you did this summer" How about a sudden love of a very big flower arrangement... Can be fabulous faux! That way, you can remain aloof and he can jolly well go and get a book and learn something. Better not be floristry.. :))...See MoreWindow dressing help
Comments (6)I find the shape a little odd as you have 3 windows & not all in synch. I would maybe get shutters that start on the wall where the bay goes into on either side then have them half tilted closed the day as that would make it look like one large bay window instead of the two together then the one on the right. Could you go to the expensive of putting new windows in that don't tilt but open from the top ?...See MoreHouzz Live Chat - Tips for dressing your windows, September 4th, 3pm
Comments (81)Hiya Jill, thanks for sending those images over. In response to your first question about your bedroom, I can think of a couple of solutions that may work. The first is the same solution as my previous French window answer to @montbray and fit something that moves with the window, either a Pleated or a Venetian which operate under tension and open with a thumb tab rather than a cord. Alternatively, it would look quite nice if a blind, particularly a Roman blind was fitted right to the top of the wall above the window, at the ceiling. This will allow the blind to be ‘dressed’ to form a valance effect above the window when the blind is open, giving full view from, and use of the window and when it is closed, it will give the illusion of the window being taller. In the case of your bathroom blind, you might like to try a waterproof Roller blind made from PVC fabric. Alternatively, Faux wood blinds are a really great idea, as they have all the look of traditional Wooden blinds, but won't warp in wet or steamy conditions. Admittedly, it is a difficult window to dress and there are not a lot of options, but hopefully, these will give you some ideas. Sarah...See MoreHow to dress bay window in a multi-use retro room?
Comments (11)Hi @Emma Lamb. I'm super up for a reconfiguration, but don't really know what else to try. I've had various arrangements in the past and this is the best yet. In an ideal world, we wouldn't have the furniture all against the walls, but we do yoga in here so we need the space. The two chairs are meant to angle in a little more than they were when I took the picture (after the Christmas mess!), but the one closest to the kitchen really just sits awkwardly blocking access to the kitchen and occasionally hiding the fish tank :( If you have any suggestions of things to move around, I'd be really up for hearing them. I know I want to keep the table where it is as I like to sit in the window while I'm working, the sofa and speakers are also pretty stuck in place due to listening angles, but the chairs, dresser, side tables, storage unit and small table holding the fish tank can all move. I'm planning to remove the fish tank table from the mix when the cabinet arrives, but they are similar in size so I could plan around either just now. I think I will go with Roman blinds and now just debating whether to get them made up or do them myself. The middle window will need more than one width so it will be a lot of matching, but I'm going to speak to the fabric store and see how I feel. So excited to get them in situ!!...See Moremrandmrsdevil
