How to design our cloakroom?

We've got a little downstairs cloakroom that we've gutted, however we struggling with the design. Anything is up for discussion, apart from adding plumbing and electrics to the walls (other than alcove on the right)

The alcove on the right is where the sink must go, and the toilet under the window.

I'm quite a fan of the worktop mounted bowls on a wooden top, and we've got an 11" corian bowl for this, however we are going to need a little bit of storage.

The alcove itself is 1m wide by about 9" deep I think.

Has anyone got any suggestions for anything? Colors, tiles floors, lighting, Vanity units etc

Hello,

This Cloak Room can be transformed to a great space with the help of imagination and a bit of creativity.

I collected for you some images for storage ideas but not the rest. Before buying anything think of your favourite style and how would you like to see it?

Would you go for a traditional look or rather modern/contemporary, minimalist or something busy?

Remember that you can always mix styles together as with a good taste you just make your Cloak Room look outstanding and stunning, even under a low budget!

You could paint the walls, or even add wallpaper on one wall so as on all of them. Have a thought and from there is much easier to go further.

You can always make storage space under the sink or get wall cabinets.

In your case I think best would be to place the toilet where the window is and put the sink on the right side of the wall for an easier access.

Rather than knocking walls completely, can you knock parts of wall A and B to achieve an open plan feel, but leaving some walls for units? It's hard to advise you though without seeing the full floor plan. Also, are you totally committed to a tall oven unit? Would you go for a built under oven?

Haha, believe it or not... I‘m actually filling my Friday (night) with this! And before you ask, it’s lager in the glass. Honestly. :-D EDIT: in case it wasn’t really clear what my Friday was filled with: painting toilet and bathroom doors! So no, not alcohol. Well, that too. :-)

How about changing the position of the doorway to the toilet so the door is on the wall next to the window, facing the kitchen. That would stop it feeling quite so much like it is coming into your living space. Then you could perhaps have a sliding glass door/wall that blocks off the toilet entrance but leaves the living room bigger and still lets light in from the window.

With the smallest corner loo you can find? And a shelf over the washing machine, bowl on top. It would be the tightest toilet I've ever come across (aside from a motorhome)! And how to load and unload the washing machine? I'd advise you to look for another nook for the washing machine. Minimum toilet space is 120x80cm. Our downstairs loo (original to the house) is 120x95 and husband (187cm) goes upstairs if he needs to sit down, or has to leave the door open...
