painting pebble dash and changing windows

we want to paint the house that is rough pebbledash but the windows need replaccing as well.

do we keep the white windows with leaded criss cross or go for total new colour frames.

need some inspirational pictures.

Deep brick red colour paint over the pebble dash and graphite windows could look amazing !

I agree with Rory, keep things simple and use quality plant stock, the front of your house is the first impression visitors get so make it an impressive one! There are some great suppliers of instant hedging now which provide you with a ready grown and maintained hedges of numerous varieties. I would suggest a consisent hedge line along the left hand side to screen the existing tired fence, kept to the same height as the fence as not to become over bearing. Hornbeam, Yew, Privet make good manageable hedge species all but Hornbeam are evergreen. You can then plant a line of lavender in front along the path edge. Painting the door a lighter colour would lift it more when viewed from the front, similar to next door, perhaps a Duck egg Blue or light French Grey colour with large chrome door furniture. Its a beautiful house so you've got a fantastic back drop to a new garden.

This is it rendered -we get the sun in the front in the day which changes the colour a lot -I prefer it with our usual greyer Manchester skies! Think I could have gone a bit darker though...so hard to match it up with the front door!

hi Paige, you do not need any planning permission to replace the tile hung bay. the tiles will be fitted on timber battening. when the tiles are removed you may need to change the timber battening beneath, but this is straightforward. there are many colours in the plain tile ranges you can use. as a decorative tile I would recommend using a natural clay tile as the replacement as the colour will not fade over time, which will happen with a cement based tile. best Rowland
