HELP! Colour dilemma - what colour walls with a beech unit?
Comments (3)Might sound crazy but a subtle two tone might work not colour blocking but a gradual subtle shade diff a soft off white blue grey teal on top that will not fight against the very bright white window frames and keeping a small room light.. and then getting to a soft blue grey darker teal colour with a soft graded border. And consider painting the unit soft white with an all surface soft white mat or soft sheen paint. Pop up a large piece B&W family photo or a family picked piece of wall art or something wacky like a giant gold fish on a white background framed in a thin bright orange frame and job done...or look up dark snugs/dens with rich bold colours can work well if done correctly .. good luck.....See More(Urgent)What colour furniture should I put in my guestroom ?
Comments (20)Hi Kit Kat. Personally I think the stark black and white everywhere must be horrible to live with, very visually disturbing. It must be a very old traditional cottage so I can see why your husband might insist on keeping it as is. Use the Houzz image search or Pinterest to search for limed oak cottage interiors and build up a gallery of images that could illustrate to him how much softer it would look without all that black! Removing the black would give the most authentic finish but might be a total nightmare to do, often people have to have them blasted in situ (expensive and very messy!). If he still won’t listen then it may seem odd but painting the walls a darker tone (closer to black) would help with the jarring contrast! I like your ideas four poster etc but I think that room is too small for anything like that. You could find some richly patterned fabric for the curtains and hang some as a headboard. Best of luck with changing your husbands mind, you are right though, stick to your guns!...See MoreSofa colour/style dilemma!
Comments (30)Thank you all for voting! We went with a charcoal velvet sofa in the end, very squishy and comfortable - great for the library! Green velvet would have also looked great but as ever, budgets aren’t unlimited so we went with something that would hopefully fit in if the decor changed in the future!...See Morepaint colour dilemma
Comments (4)I think I might try it with skimming stone on the other walls. Alternatively use a paper behind the bed and paint on the other walls, shades of green work well with it. Although i do wonder if the carpet is beige, without seeing it or what way the room faces, whether setting plaster would work better? I’d use that on all walls...See MoreAnnie O'Connor
