The driveway lights.

I love how they stand up off the ground but point the light onto the driveway. They look like real wood are they? Also where could I buy them?

Thanks for the question. The lighting bollards are a superb product from Collingwood Lighting. They are made from hardwood and have a cluster of three 1 Watt LED lights at the top,which shine downwards. They are very economical to run as the LED fittings use very small amounts of electricity.
We use these bollards in many of our schemes and recommend them highly.

I agree with Amelia, red brick garden wall. To match the existing garden boundary wall on the left in first photo with blue brick coping, staggered to suit ground slope, coping should also be slightly sloped to shed water so water isn't standing on top of wall.

Like the idea of central water feature (would ditch the trees but keep large grass surround). Could even add a shallow water moat effect around grass but this may be a step too far!!! Probably would choose a light stone colour to compliment the house pillars and add lighting for extra effect at night. For parking would use the grass areas either side. Check out possible alternatives to tarmac (think you can get some kind of composite stone/gravel resin mix) which would give you more colour options but still great for bikes. May be able to add some kind of integral design pattern using colour in parking area either side so stays symmetrical but adds some interest (bit like when you see paved parking space outlined in another complimentary coloured paving). Add low level border (even just coloured gravel and stone curbing) around perimeter/base of all 3 hedges and up-lighting for wow factor at night. Have a nosey around the neighbourhood and see what others have done. Definitely get a reputable landscaper on board for their design input, they should know latest materials available and any pitfalls. Beautiful house, good luck with renovations

These are my Japanese acers, I selected the shorter varieties since the drive isn't huge. The red one is approximately 10yo, the other two are 6-7 yo. They grow quite slow and stay compact,in my opinion. I tried to take the photos in front of our Cooper so you get the idea of the sizes. They are Garnet (2+ m) Bi Ho (2m) and Winter Flame (1.5m and it grew 50cm during the last three years). Acers can be shaped, I'll be removing some lower branches to add some structure. They are gorgeous in autumn and passers-by often stop to admire.

i appreciate that it will not look the same when wet but even when it is I think it still works well, the red when wet is very close to the house colour and will just clash with the house when wet, just my views 😊 I struggle with greys as they sometimes remind me of faded tarmac, the pics that Sonia posted is the sort of idea that I had in mind and remember, when it’s not wet ist dry and you’ll still be looking at it 😉
