Please HELP!! I don't like my newly decorated white walls in my lounge
Comments (5)Thank you for that - the room is quite dark as it has a conservatory on the end - at the moment very stark as you can see in these pics - the red suite is staying, there will be a new light fitting and brass/gold sockets. I have bought a huge gold mirror for the chimney breast and the runner was going directly above the fire - it's normal wallpaper roll width....See Morefamily room needs decor... need some help.
Comments (10)It’s a lovely room but due to the number of doors it doesn’t feel quite like a room in its own right. I might consider painting the doors in the wall colour which will help enormously (you could also add curtains), As celery girl said I think a large rug where the front feet of the furniture sit on the rug will also have the same effect and also agree re the plant and art. I would add an accent colour and bring in both texture and pattern. I think the room would also benefit from a floor lamp and table lamp/s to cosy it up. It’s hard to make shopping suggestions as you’re not in the uk but perhaps post things you find for comment? I’d also move the water dispenser by the stairs...See MoreHelp - decor advice needed.....
Comments (7)KL, thank you - the red does work with the brown, see picture of what the previous owners had - but the walls in reality are a much darker and 'cackier' colour than the picture suggests. Forzaitalia (love the name, love Italy even more!) You are dead right about the brown carpet sapping the light! We plan on putting a fairly light grey carpet in eventually. The room is quite dark anyway as it only has a small window at one end, and we leave the en-suite door open to get light into the other end. Funnily enough, we are already using the 'coastal' theme bedding that we bought (see pics) The other duvet cover is the same as the curtains. I love the rugs in your first photo, especially the blue one, so may well look for something similar - hadn't thought of lightening the carpet up with a couple of rugs, just need to be careful I don't fall over them when I'm staggering to the loo in the middle of the night! Also LOVE the picture on the wall, have been looking for something like that for ages. Actually, you've clarified things a bit for me - I think I might just go ahead and use a warm cream on the walls, try and get a couple of cream and blue rugs and then at least we can still use the bedding I spent a fortune on! At least it will look presentable for a while until we can afford the huge expanse of carpet! Once again, thanks for the help....See Morei need advice in my wall mural decoration
