Paint colour for my kitchen!

Hiya

we want to update our kitchen wall colour (the paint)- any suggestions?

we currently have a warm beige neutral tone called 'natural hessian' by dulux and are ready for a change.

our kitchen doesn't get the best light, we have cream units with oak work tops, and sage green metro tiles....

any my ideas for paint colours- the rest of ur house is decorated with greys etc and we love a farm house look....

Stock from Little Greene Paint might work well. It will also warm up the space. I suggest you paint the brick work too.

It comes in three shades so experiment with different areas in your kitchen to see which one you like.

Up lighters above your units (and out of sight) will also add warmth and ambience.

I must admit I am scratching my head a bit on this one - the two slightly different shades of cream don't make it easy! If everything wasn't split new, I think I would be recommending changing the tiles. I'm not a fan of painting tiles either, but I am really at a loss as to what to suggest. A teal perhaps or verdigris, but I think whatever colour you pick, the tile/cabinet combination may still feel a little unbalanced. Might be worth thinking what you can do to mask the tiles with nicely coloured appliances, possibly an accessory rail, fruit bowl, plants/herbs etc.

We also have a north east facing kitchen, we used farrow and balls, Purbeck stone on our wall of units at the back of the kitchen (its warmer than using grey which can look cold in a north facing room), pelt on our peninsula and dimity on the walls, it give off pink hues during the day and is (nice) sort of creamy beige in the evening / on dull days. We took samples of our flooring and work top to a F&B shop/consultant and they were really helpful in confirming that the colours we wanted would work in our N/E facing room. I was pretty fixed on the the purbeck stone and pelt and it was they that suggested using dimity on the walls. Also as already suggested, tester pots and paint on large pieces of paper that you can move around the room is a good idea.

I think a light grey would enhance your table and chairs. You can add accents of brighter colours in small touches (kitchen herbs, fruit bowl,...) and some art on the table wall? The kitchen looks quite dark, you could consider letting more light in by leaving the blinds up and maybe change the ceiling lighting to halogen spots?
