Snack time: What type of snacks person are you?
Comments (11)I'm slightly ashamed, as normally it is fruit; however I have just finished grouting some tiling and am now having a break. My snack has consisted of two mince pies, a bar of chocolate and a large white wine and soda....See MoreEvergreen shrubs for patio
Comments (10)Love your terrace. Great time to plant evergreen shrubs, in fact any shrubs. You also won’t have to water much with all the rain we’ve been having. Some shrubs are evergreen and others are deciduous (lose their leaves in autumn). Be careful with large olive trees as they can find It hard to survive our cold wet winters, that’s why you see them more in Italy and Greece rather than the Lake District. Some easy evergreen shrubs that cope well (along with max height) are: Viburnun Tinus (8 ft) Photinia (8 ft) Fatsia Japonica (10-15 ft) Mahonia (6 ft) Euonymous fortunei (2 ft spreads outwards) Lavendar (1 ft) Choisya (6ft) Pittosporum (6 ft) its good to start with evergreens, then add a few deciduous shrubs (roses, butterfly bush, hydrangeas etc) and then you can add perennials (flowers that come up year after year) and bulbs such as daffodils. The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) has a wealth of info on their website. Heres a few pics PHOTINIA EUNYMOUS VIBURNUM FATSIA JAPONICA...See Morecovering flagstones with an evergreen plant or another material?

Appreciate you have already bought and planted the cordyline but if they die in winter what about lavendar? Just make sure the gravel is in a complementary colour to your patio....See MoreWhat type of handles for this type of door?
Comments (2)I like continuing a theme so if the handles match something else then that’s good- but not essential so don’t worry if something else doesn’t match. Separately I think on a door with strong geometric lines perhaps a handle with a square rose would be a better choice....See Moreforeverhomeandmore
