Glass splash back with cutout sockets

I just wanted to know I am having a new kitchen fitted and wanted the glass panels As I like the sleek shine of them it's a classy look, as I have saw a few on your kitchens designs to.
I have a very busy household and wanted to know is the glass panels easy to maintain &cleaning wise, there is another option of the matching worktop back panels that have a colour &shine. Please can you reply back asap.

I have grey painted glass splashbacks in my kitchen & have been amazed at how easy they are to clean.

Glass splash backs are very easy to clean and maintain, no grout lines, not damaged by water at all. You do need to plan socket positions and can reduce costs by mounting sockets on undersides of wall cabinets, on the ends of unit runs etc. The glass can be cut around sockets, however. Any mirror or glazing company can do it, you can just buy plain tempered glass and paint the back of it to the colour you want before sticking it to the wall with silicone. Bear in mind the colour will look a bit different through the glass. I had Georgian wired glass back painted to make it look duck egg years ago. It had a slight texture and shimmer, made it look like tiny mosaic tiles but so much easier to clean.

Thank you for all suggestions. Fiona that is a good idea also - i'll have a look around. I particularly love your idea Planetharrywood of the gradual effect! Do you know where I could buy something to replicate this? Love the micro cement idea as well - pity you don't live closer! DAG Inter - i LOVE the idea of mirrors but backed away from the idea after being told about how much it is likely to cost! I think i perhaps should get a real quote though. Is there any software or perhaps even websites with samples that i could order to try and mimic some looks? Finding it hard to wind down on a decision.

Colourhappy sinking the fridge in the wall is my plan, just not right away. I don't even have to steal space, it'll fit into the 'triangle' but I would need to take the kitchen door away and move the utility door. I'll make do by adding an end panel to the right of it to blend it away when seen from in the dining room. Right now it has to stay where it is. As for tiles, I'm somewhat stuck because the worktop has a marbled vein though it. It's white but not brilliant white and next to white wall tiles, it'll look vanilla. The veining through it is grey with a tiny touch of copper/burnt orange through it. Hence why it's called Calacatta gold. I live metro tiles but it's to right here. There is herringbone on the floor so though I do live patterned tiles, again it needs to be simple. Right now I'm considering a glass slab. Any thoughts on that?

Hi Darren, Here are a some images showing some similar finishes you have specified. This is a FB colour on a plain glass - Manor House Grey This is antique bronze mirror below. The below also has the Antique bronze mirror as a large single panel on the wall and also fitted in the Island Niche. The below is FB Blackened - Nice and reflective, and matches the wall colour almost perfectly - looks great with the light and dark tones of the cabinets. This is a plain Bronze mirror - looking completely different to the Antique version. Finally I have one in a Dark Blue - I don't have a better image unfortunately. We did notice it did darken the niche area when it was installed a lot....this may be a contributing factor in your decision... Best of Luck, once you have decided, I'd love to see what you go with.

Thank you for the reply back i think I will go for the glass splash back panel.

On some companies they recommend having a ritec sealent on the glass for an additional charge saying it's better for hygiene.
Would that info be write..

Hmm I've never heard of that, but I can't imagine it's particularly needed when glass is so easy to clean! Jo

Lustrolite is new panelling that replicates glass but doesn't require so much polishing!

Ritec is a self cleaning liquid like when you have self cleaning glass on your conservatory it basically stops thing sticking onto the glass making things easier to wipe off !!
