WHICH STAIR RUNNER?
Comments (11)Hi Amber yes I love the naturals soooo much too but I have had a Axminster in oatmeal which you might be able see on pics but to be honest I have always thought the natural colour looked a bit dreary on the stairs where its blocked in and wanting a bit of a WOW look for a change but still wanting to change it up wall colour wise as I do very often. Wooden floor is new and gorgeous thanks for looking you make so many good suggestions as do all the Houzz community. I have lots going on in different rooms at the moment so keep helping me ALL...See MoreTo paint or not to paint this staircase?
Comments (30)I would go for half and half approach as per jmcdi, painting the panelling below in keeping with rest of hallway and keeping the large newel posts, balusters, handrails and diagonal bottom section (not sure of its proper name) as they are. The only other option might be to try and remove a bit of the dark varnish from the stairs and see what colour the wood comes up naturally, it could be oak underneath the stain? However if it turned out to be lovely and you went for stripping the whole thing this would be a messy, long and potentially costly process. Best of luck, keep us posted!...See MoreWhich bits of a bathroom *must* be tiled?
Comments (12)Hello Minipie, Sounds like you're going to have a very stunning bathroom. We definitely advise tiling your shower walls to full height for obvious reasons, however the rest is really up to preference and how much practical use it's going to get. If you're still having a free-standing bath then it really would depend on how far the bath is away from the walls to determine if you'll need tiles or a waterproof paint. We believe tiles would be the more practical solution as it will add a little more synchronicity with the tiles in your shower area. If your bath is being built in, then tiling all around it would be the best thing to do to make it watertight. Whatever you decide to do it's always nice to leave a wall or half of your walls to a lick of paint every now and again. It adds a bit of longevity to your bathroom and means you have the option to add different colours and freshen it up once in a while. Comments (19)I’d paint it - maybe 2 tone as some of the comments suggest. I did mine this summer, absolutely love how stylish it looks. I used chalk paint which needed no undercoat (some mahogany coloured stain previously) - although the grey took better than the white. Your stair gate suggest kids, I have 3 small ones and a few chips have appeared on mine, but overall I’m pleased with it. It gets a lot of comments when people come over. (We also need new carpet but holding off until the youngest gets potty trained)...See Moreraul_breganzo
