POLL: Christmas in the sun - yay or nay?

It's the perfect time for a holiday during the holidays, but some prefer a traditional cosy Christmas at home vs. a beach-side bbq that some of our friends down under opt for.

But what do you think - is it time to ditch a traditional one or will you always prefer a white Christmas? Vote and comment below!

A very Happy Christmas from the South of the US! We enjoy generally very temperate weather here. Some Christmases are cold and others are quite warm. It was 77 degrees (F) today. In keeping with tradition, I had a fire in the fireplace with the AC running full blast.

I had a TV in my bedroom for most of my adult life, because I was living in a house share or a studio. Whenever I've lived in my own home - which I have for the last fifteen years - and had a separate bedroom, I've not had a TV in the bedroom. I haven't had one for the last eight years and I would hate to have one again. It's sort of intrusive and it has a negative impact on my sleep. I have a radio next to my bed and will listen to that quietly because it can be soothing. I love watching TV, just not where I sleep.

It a bright, fresh and exciting downfall that can be enjoyed by all, sledging, walking, building snowmen, snowball fights. Yes there is a downside/s to it but then would we not want a nice, hot, sunsoaked day just because we burn in the sun. Just have to go with it and after all it doesn't snow that often not to be able to put up with the inconviences every so often. 59 year old working grannie no spring chicken. Let it snow just be careful not to break a leg.

We are often approached by clients who are creating an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. To overcome some of the issues we make cabinetry which can hide away the usual clutter found in a busy kitchen. Bi-fold and pocketing doors are great in this instance as ovens and even sinks can be hidden away, making the cabinetry seem more like a piece of furniture than a kitchen. Our clients love being able to change the look of a space in an instance! It is crucial to make sure you choose your appliances carefully, i.e. a quiet dishwasher and a good extractor are of huge benefit here. As long as the space is thoughtfully planned there is no reason that it shouldn't work functional and aesthetically.

I never understood why people don't build their conservatory for year round use. It's all about light and heat control. Automatic sun reflective shades along the roof windows will keep the room from overheating in the summer and even help keep it warm in the winter. Proper wall and ceiling insulation, double or gas permeated triple glazing will keep it comfortable year around with the right heating. Add a wee wood stove in a corner with a simply pipe chimney and you have yourself a lovely winter sun room to brighten your cold winter days. If you live where there is snow, even better. It'll feel like a wee slice of paradise.
