Small, north facing lounge - help please!
Comments (5)You need to look at this from a different point of view... north facing light is very cold and you need to use mid tones with warm. Instead of have pale walls and dark furniture, reverse it to have mid tone warm grey on the walls and light/colourful tones on furnishings. You would need to put a cream throw on your sofa to achieve this, plus paint the ceiling in a warm white or cream. Also artificial lighting is key in a warm white, a cheap option is to put at least three table/floor lamps in the corners of the room. A cream or light colourful rug will add interest, plus I suggest colourful accents in three warm/muted colours e.g. duck egg, orange, yellow. Red or yellow can look very tatty in north facing light....See More3.48m X 3.30m Living room/lounge space. Too small??? Layout ideas
Comments (3)Hi Jade. The room is small and it is also the walkway to the back f the house, which further obstruct its functionality. If you are keen to keep the living room separated from the kitchen, then your furniture layout is probably the only way to go. I would advise you to consider taking down the wall to the kitchen and create an open plan. It will make the space feel spacious and you might even consider a different layout: Place the kitchen at the rear on the right wall, place your lounge on the opposite wall facing the kitchen, put a room-dividing furniture in between with the TV inside and place the dining table where the lounge is now. You can get a really contemporary looking comfortable space. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to help. just drop me a line or visit www.betterspace.co Good luck, Avi...See MoreMy small dark lounge needs help!
Comments (12)There are lots of things you can do to brighten this room. For example: 1. remove the dark stripey wallpaper on the chimney breast. It is dark and heavy and doesn't work with the heavy framed mirror; 2. get some bright soft furnishings: cushions, rug, curtains; 3. hang some colourful art/prints; 4. build in some storage either side of the chimney breast (and remove all of the items on the floor and window sill); 5. improve the lighting - wall sconces, side lamps. These are just a few ideas. Good luck.......See MoreHow to arrange small lounge diner
Comments (2)Hiya everyone, would really appreciate all ideas for how we can arrange our lounge to get the best out of it.Floor plan is slightly different, we've replaced the large window with French doors to the garden and replaced the single door with a large window.Fireplace in the corner is a wood burner, Internet/tv comes in along the wall between the fireplace and the big doors to outside.I just don't want it to feel like a room full of furniture! Many thanks...See More- 10 years ago
