floor vs kitchen tops vs cabinets

we are renovating an old 30s house in Netherlands. It's long and tall with lots of charm and beautiful garden. this garden (and a small issue with neighbouring house window) was the main reason we have decided to build an extension and made the house even longer then it was before. the old kitchen and new extension have an L shape.
the rest of the floor is old wooden planks we are keeping and old concrete in the long corridor.
now to the dilemma. We are thinking to have the natural stone because of underfloor heating (we both love wood but have to think practical). the stone (coming from Vietnam) resembles a local blue stone.
the kitchen cabinets will be off white (still undecided).
What type of top should we chose for both sides? (kitchen is in a galley stile and connects old house with new room)
Please consider practicality (i cook alot! and this is a passage), color (floor vs tops on both sides vs kitchen cabinets) the appliances will be RVS color.

Solid wood floor typically isn't recommended in a kitchen, the changes in temperature and humidity can cause the floor to expand and contract. Having said that my brother had parquet fitted 3 years ago in the whole of downstairs and it hasn't been an issue at all (so far!) . It is a large room though with lots of ventilation, extraction, door openings etc. Engineered wood is recommended however, it may still contract etc but only by a minimal amount and the small expansion gap left around the perimeter is sufficient. You would still need to mop up any spills straightaway and I would recommend ordering slightly over the recommended surplus amount. I'm not sure if this affects all engineered floors (or whether I chose badly so may be worth asking!) but I had a few knots in some of the planks which were "filled" by the manufacturer and over time the Hoover etc knocks out the "filler" which doesn't look great so basically if I was doing it again I would just discard any planks with knots in if you want the floor to remain looking good. i really like some of the LVT's but they do differ enormously even within the same brand as to what looks realistic. I might consider the architecture of the building with LVT, what period is it?, personally I would use the "design strips" between the planks to make it look more realistic. Is the kitchen already fitted? I ask as my mum had LVT fitted when she had her kitchen done and the planks just run up to the plinths on the units finished with a line of mastic which personally I'm not keen on. i don't think you can go wrong with a herringbone or chevron (which I slightly prefer) floor though. They're a classic and tend to make a space feel larger (your eyes aren't drawn to the straight lines of planks). I don't know the layout of the kitchen and whether you have an island but the pattern can tend to work in either direction whereas planks sometimes won't. I'm also not keen on "washing" wood floors too frequently but given there aren't pets that shouldn't be a concern. good luck!

your floor choice will work great :) i have ufh in new build with air source heatpump and 21mm thick engineered wood floor (probably only carpet and solid wood would be considered less effective) and it is great, id make same choice again. i have ceramic tiles in 2 bathrooms and it definitely conducts heat better, lovely and warm underfoot when heating is running but as others have said its cooler the rest of the time. the remainder of the house just has a lovely even heat. its also very cost effective,i pay same in 4 bed, 2 bath house as i did in a previous 2 bed house (which was also new build but storage heaters). please forgive the lack of punctuation and poor sentences, this is my third attemp at posting a reply and ive lost patience writing the same thing!

My cabinets are made from 18mm Egger board (Austrian Company) including back panels and available in over 120 colours and woodgrains, glue and dowelled rigid construction, I can specify Blum (Austrian again) or Hettich (German Company) soft close hinges and drawer boxes. The boards are cut and machined on a CNC machine (Italian) and assembled by a local company to very high tolerances. The cabinets have a choice of either 1mm or 2mm abs edging all round. Cabinets can be made to any width, height and depth to suit a customers requirements including being machined ready to accept the gola rails for 'true handleless' frontals, accessories can be fitted and all doors and drawer fronts attached. My doors are from various UK suppliers in all styles from traditional in-frame to contemporary styles, many of which can be made to any size and colour and if there's a grain pattern I can also 'book match' the doors and drawers. I'd be interested to know what the differences are compared to a German or Italian kitchen.

Daisy- thanks for answering! Yes- we have an American fridge at the moment and we would sell it for an integrated fridge freezer along the wall of cabinets (taking up more cabinet space!). I haven’t planned the kitchen yet. Have an appointment Monday to see what I am working with. At the moment I would like a double oven NOT under the hob, but I may have to give in on that as well. This is just a pic from Pinterest I pulled re roughly what I’m thinking. But not specific plan YET!
