Advice needed : kitchen cabinet update / painting cabinets
Comments (8)Hi, I have just finished repainting my kitchen myself. Overall I am happy with the new look, but I think the final verdict is only possible after some time (to see if the paint hardens enough). I have used Ammonite Farrow and Ball which is very warm grey colour. It looks nice in dark corners as well. Had to apply 4 coats of paint after 3 coats of FB primer. So be aware of the quantities. I must say that the process of repainting was not an easy ride. I spent overall three weeks (full time weekends and doing some smaller works in the evenings). Preparation is the hardest part (sanding, sanding and sanding), while painting is also a vey delicate process). If you are not afraid of hard work do it yourself! Otherwise, a professional is always a good option. Check traditionalpainter.com website they have a number of good instructions on repainting the cabinets....See MoreIdeas for adding colour to kitchen
Comments (3)from the picture, your wood looks good. so MAYBE, i would think about only painting those 2 wall cupboards between the cooker, cream. looks like you have a white backsplash, but maybe change that for some colour OR paint a horizontal stripe on the wall OR paint the ceiling and leave the present backsplash, but still paint the cupboards? haha i don't know. so tough to always decide. the easy thing with paint is........ you can paint over it-again. ha...See MoreDo you spend more time at the kitchen sink or hob?
Comments (12)Emma, I think it comes down to how you live your life. Do you like to entertain with everyone gathered around the kitchen island? Do you prefer to keep guests in the Drawing or Dining Room and bring everything out? And if this is a family kitchen (kids gathered around the kitchen island, or spouse sitting with a glass of wine while you prep dinner, etc.), I would tend to go with the sink in the island. Most want to face out and be apart of the action. With the sink in the island, you will do most of your prep work there. You will be able to visit, see the tv and be apart of the rooms activities. Go with two dishwashers if dirty dishes are a concern, but if you answered yes to any of the questions above, it shouldn't be. Guests who gather around the island expect a little mess and clutter. Love the look of the extractor btw. Regards, John Schuller, Evolv Design evolvdesign.com 07787 41 7722...See MoreKitchen cabinet door coluor
Comments (12)Hi Maria. I don't think you have to stick to cream, you could look at neutrals such as greige, clay etc. A pale olive or sage would also look nice. If you got the right shade a pale blue would also work or you could consider deeper colours with light wall units. What colours do you like as it may be best to start from there and advise which way the room faces? I think a shaker door would work well with what you have...See MoreDee M
