Black internal doors

Hi,
We're doing a house refurb and have decided on a steel front door (pic 1)
I recently saw a thread on black internal doors and thought it would be really nice to mirror this style in the double glazed internal doors that immediately follow the front door (pic 2 but with white architrave)
The open plan living area/kitchen is going to have these colours (pic 3) and really sets the tone of the house
My preference is to have all doors in the house with the same finish. My concern is that upstairs the hallway has 6 solid doors all quite close to each other (4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 linen cupboard) and that if they are all black it could look a bit too much? (Pic 4)
The alternative would be to have the black downstairs and oak upstairs but I'm just not sure about 2 different coloured doors?
Or maybe just to have all oak and forget the black?

Comments (7)Sorry I cannot contribute re the style of the doors. Only wanted to encourage you to consider black doors. While I liked black doors I saw on Houzz, I was not sure how they would have looked in reality. My husband was really sceptical which did not help either. However I made the leap and never looked back! But I painted black only two doors with glass inserts in the sitting room. Comments (7)I would say that sanding them back, may not be an option. You can only do this if they have actually been painted. If they have been stained or anything used on them that penetrates the wood, then you will have no option but to paint them. You will not be able to sand the stain out. Unless you really want to take days and days and days attempting to get it off, presuming it's paint and that you are prepared to have to do a lot by hand getting the paint out of every little crack, don't start. Even if it is paint, it will have gone in to every little nook and cranny and I can't think it will be easy to get it out. After all, it's not planed timber. Comments (8)It’s ‘eggshell’, so it has a subtle sheen which I think works really well with timber doors. The colour is Farrow and Ball’s Off Black. I would advice against a pure black (if there’s such a thing...) which can look too stark. Are you considering other colours for your doors as well as (near) black?...See MorePetite Maison

I also like black architraves and skirts but without knowing the style of the house etc it could just look very wrong! I would personally try and choose a black paint with as much depth as possible and as least shine. The kitchen pictured is in Little Green Lamp Black, I haven't seen this in person but I suspect it would be worth looking at

8 years agoThanks minnie101 that's a lovely looking colour, I definitely wanted something more muted and that colour ticks all the boxes.
The house was a 1960's 3 bed detached, so I don't think the rooms have the space or depth for black skirts/architraves unfortunately :@(
I'll post a pic of he house in its current state, I hope you've got a good imagination :@)
