Tipis, slides and secret hideaways, children can come up with all sorts of interesting decorating ideas - but not all of them are achievable! Have you allowed your child (or children) to decorate their own rooms or perhaps other rooms in your home?

Aged about ten, our daughter decided she didn't like her bedroom with antique pine bed (complete with lace curtains), chest of drawers etc and wanted white melamine like her friends. We gave way as we were able to fit out a spare bedroom with the longed for melamine pretty cheaply. Within a year she decided she didn't like melamine and wanted her old room back. We never regretted giving her the chance to learn what she really liked for herself - she is now an architect.

Our children have all grown up and left home now....ah, the bliss of being able to do whatever we like!!

My hand-bag should be much lighter these days but it's not. Big ones are away from home, small ones are teens - so old enough to cram all their worldly goods into their own pockets + suck it up if anything is lost/broken in their care. Now handbag is full of elderly relative's goods - prescription meds, haemorrhoid creams, spare nebuliser capsules, pocket hankies, spare catheter bag, his appointment cards, his paperwork, his pension card + shopping list, Vicks Vapo-rub, a caipín .... Car emptied of pushchairs + buggies + car-seats, replaced with walking sticks, 4 wheel rollator, Handybar for ease of getting in + out. Have learner plates + disability sticker on windscreen ... Ho hum

You have different school hols in Scotland I assume?! Mines at school this week ! - although we have a place in Kilmacolm - we don't get time north of the boarder much anymore these days ! Yes I do decorate house I'm afraid as can't resist a carved pumpkin and I love the fact you can do scary stuff at Halloween whereas Christmas can be a bit too shiny happy for me! I also love frightening kids with scary witch that cackles at door..I think it's a pagan festival originally and Irish in origin at least that's what I have read..

In our experience, and we mainly specialize in Kids Rooms, most important part comes to parents. The smaller your child is- the bigger part you play in it. But as they grow, they eventually make their own decisions. So it is up to you to make your decisions look like it is their own :) There are many ways to incorporate so much loved cartoon characters to room design not making it 'cheap' looking. You still have to listen to your child.

Never regretted allowing my 12 year old daughter to choose the decor for her bedroom, bathroom and study. They weren't to my taste, but that was the idea. She has since furnished her flat where she went to university very tastefully on a shoestring, probably having learned the pains as well as pleasures of having to live with your own choices. A spin off benefit of the feeling of ownership is her pride in looking after her stuff.

We love kids’ creativity! One of our customers told us
a story about how she designed her new Totem Mill with her son who loved it so
much that he used it as a part of his…space ship project. ;)

We like to think that design sees no limit in age.
Tylko app allows for a fun and engaging way to customize furniture - without a
