Comments (2)Yay, It must be the only loo for miles! We did have a nosey around the rooms, amazing, did you see into the dining room etc? Another favourite from that trip was the Dunmore Pineapple, there was no one there, we just wandered around and enjoyed the gardens. What a bizzare place it is, in the middle of nowhere again. I think its holiday cottages?...See MoreArt Deco fireplace dilemma
Comments (37)The problem is the stark cold white walls against the soft warm browns of the fireplace. I don't recommend going all beige but try colours from the same warm spectrum as the fireplace and I think you'll find it looks more natural in the space. Also, the round candles don't work with the squares and oblongs of the fireplace; find other accessories that enhance rather than scream at the shapes and colours and that could make a huge difference. So could a mirror or picture above it - it would shift the focus so the fireplace doesn't dominate. Work with it, not against, then judge it. These fireplaces are handsome; trying to pretty them doesn't work....See MoreArt Deco
Comments (4)Hi Patricia, You could go for a soft pastel colour palette inspired by Miami Beach to achieve the Art Deco style you’re after. Mix pastels with metallics and bold geometric prints for a 1930’s inspired scheme. I love this Osborne & Little wallpaper below from John Lewis which takes its design influence from the Chrysler Building. http://bit.ly/2fUK6Xf I’d recommend you use a soft neutral paint colour with this wallpaper, such as Dulux Dusted Moss 4, which is a calming neutral with a green tone. Alternatively, a soft grey colour such as Grey Steel 4, which will maintain and light and airy feel. You could then bring in either original Art Deco furniture, or modern designs inspired by this era-such as this beautiful clamshell design chair from Graham and Green, and desk lamp from John Lewis with its beautiful curved detail: http://bit.ly/2fIkTfK http://bit.ly/2fUJ8dQ I hope this helps create the look you’re after, and good luck with the study! Comments (4)Looks like a great project and like MATH says it’ll need a good amount of work. I too would first make certain that the shelves can be removed if you want to put glass ones in. Mirror tiles in the back could look good, but might add extra weight and be tricky to put in. Wallpaper is the easiest option and there lots of great designs, if the back of the cabinet can come off this will make it vastly easier to apply paper. The design on the doors looks great but the tape does not :), you could possibly renew the design with stick on leading, not a professional look I admit but probably better than what is there now. I do like the door handles though... very swish. I’d paint outside the cabinet and door frames solid black and have it really blingy on the inside but that’s my personal choice. Here’s some ideas....See MoreAmber Jeavons Ltd
