Backsplash to go with Caledonia granite

I have white cabinets, Caledonia granite counters. I have tried at least 25 backsplash samples and cannot find one that looks right. Any ideas?

Our suggestion would be to print out a reasonable sized photo of your kitchen and bring it right to a local tile shop to get some recommendations direct from a designer. Make sure to show the color of the floor and surrounding materials should help when comparing products. Thanks for your question and best of luck!

I'm using Daltile Rittenhouse 3x6 subway tile in Desert Gray. have not yet decided whether to choose glossy or matte finish.

There are a huge range of options and it would depend on the look and feel of what you want to achieve, your personal view on colour & boldness, what else is close by (to tie in with) and budget. A coloured glass, such as a citrine green or orange would look great. A very different style/look, but equally eye-catching would be some interesting patterned tiles such as the Patricia Urquiola collection from Surface Tiles in London (and elsewhere). My personal preference would be to opt for a white/grey marble such as a Calacatta D'oro which would be incredibly luxurious and bring in the white and soft greys as well as adding a hint of warm caramel. That is if budget allowed. Carrera marble is less costly but has a greyer background. It is always advisable to go and choose a slab of marble from the stone yard.

Hi Susan, I have recently installed 2 kitchens with white gloss cabinets, one handless with a solid wood treated worktop with grey painted glass splash back and the other with a white Corian counter top and painted glass splash back, all of these surfaces have a shiny appearance. The grey painted splash back and complimentary grey quickstep flooring enhance the overall design and balances the "shiny" appearance combined with clever use of accessories and accent colours. Hi Liane - I'm going to issue my usual warning about black/dark counters in a north facing room. It's great that everything else in your kitchen will be very light, but I had a black granite counter in a north facing kitchen with big windows and a conservatory to the west with obviously loads of light and it was always really depressing and we had to have the lights on all the time. Those counters are devious light suckers! The marble backsplash looks beautiful, by the way.

Dark grey kitchen/living room - wall paint colour?

I have a small open plan kitchen/living room that I'm struggling to settle on a paint colour for. The cabinets take up most of the wall space in the kitchen area and are a dark, reflective grey with a minimalist design (similar to: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d0/4d/69/d04d69bab448e2a5d141e63c1bd8b0f2.jpg) The countertops are a white granite speckled with grey and black. My key colour is orange which I have for some appliances and small things. I've put up a backsplash of simple white tiles that covers the walls about a foot above the countertops. The living room furniture is a mix of dark grey/black fabrics and metal work with mid-tone natural wood (similar to the first on the left here: http://floorsandldn.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Swatch1.jpg). The flooring throughout is in the same tone of wood. I would like to be bold and go with a dark grey (e.g. Ink from Neptune https://www.neptune.com/interior-decor/paint/ink-paint/) on the walls, but I'm having trouble finding a tone that will work with the cabinets, which change so much depend on what light they're reflecting. This is making me think I should instead go for a mid- or light grey, but I don't want to tone it down so much that it loses the impact and ends up not working! I'm keeping the ceiling and skirting boards white and using a lot of light/white cushions and throws to stop it becoming too dark. Any help much appreciated as it's been far too long I've been dithering over this!

I ended up choosing the matte finish Desert Gray. My new cabinets are stained maple and I'm thrilled with the whole effect.

I have white cabinets with the same granite countertops. My floor is a grey time tavern oak and my walls are a paint mixture of Purple, grey and khaki. I need the perfect color backsplash that will not washout the cabinets or clash with the granite countertops. Any and all suggestions welcomed.
