Mood lighting a ceiling lantern

We intend to fit LED mood lighting around our ceiling lantern. Should it be fitted around the edge of the ceiling. Or the base of the lantern?

I think if you went for recessed lighting it would be ok - spots dangling down might be too much ! If you speak to an electrician about the best type of lights for dimming, as some work better than others ! :-)

Have you tried to download Houzz app on your phone? It comes with a sketch feature where you can take a photo of your hallway and place different lights in it. It's not a top-noch design programme, but it will give you an idea of how a certain product would look in your interiors. Worth a try. With a bit of imagination, any lamp can be fixed there, it depends though on how bothered you are by cable/wires showing. My suggestion though will be to choose a different light fitting than the Next one. The main reason is size - 45 cm is rather tiny compared to the size of the space you have there - it will look out of proportion. Maybe if you get two?...
