To Parquet or not to Parquet
Comments (3)The room is lovely. I would say yes for the light but again I love a statement light in a room and it will draw more attention to the features. You could go for a more modern chandelier with your arc lamp. Parquet is of course dearer to have laid than just wooden boards and if they're reclaimed they may need a little work so would also consider that. As I say your existing floor is lovely but parquet is quite special for want of a better word!...See MoreAdvice needed for wood panelling in entrance
Comments (8)I like your wood paneling and I think it is better to keep it as a character of your house and paint to the bright colour! Just in case, you can have some idea through these images of wood paneling and parquet flooring below. 1. White wood paneling with parquet flooring This white wood paneling gives minimal and contemporary looks and feeling. 2. Light gray wood paneling with parquet flooring 3. Beige wood paneling with parquet flooring And for parquet flooring, if the wood condition is still good then you may consider sanding the floor to get the nice smooth finish? If you do, the colour of parquet floor might be slightly lighter than the original colour. I hope this will be helpful for you....See MoreParquet style dilemma!!
Comments (14)I like the middle one too. My house used to be a telephone exchange in the 40's, so the entire (bungalow) floor of the house is classic herringbone parquet with a triple straight border. The uniformity of the single herringbone in such quantity makes it so you dont really notice it most of the time after a while so I'd choose double to give it a little more oomph...See Morehow should parquet flooring be laid
Comments (4)Christine, you are correct, it should be laid as if the planks are pointing arrows when you enter the room, so that your eye is drawn in that direction, google any picture of parquet flooring and you will see this is how it’s done- https://www.luxuryflooringandfurnishings.co.uk/painswick-amber-oak-150-x-600-x-14-3mm.html?utm_term=&utm_campaign=Wood+-...See MoreSven
