Pat in March you had some questions on a retractable awning cover or retractable roof . Just wondering if you still have some questions. Sorry about just getting back to you we had an email routing glitz and did not recieve some old messages until now.

Firstly, I wouldn't say it's too tall. It's too narrow. I don't think you're going to be able to avoid it sticking out further than the window. Really. I would have a cupboard built to cover the whole width of the alcove; to match the one you have the other side maybe. I can't tell from the pic what window dressing you have, but you could soften the edge with curtains.

Decent laminate worktop suppliers that I'd recommend are Axiom, Egger, Prima, Odyssey and Omega. Between the 5 of them they sometimes have similar designs so look at each one to see what lengths they offer as some are 3 metres, some 3.6 and some 4 metres. You need to work out which is cost effective to avoid waste. Google the images. There are some great choices and most of them will post you a sample free of charge.
