Advice on full wall image/murals

I'm looking to do a full wall image of the Chicago skyline in my pool room. I have the following questions

Should I do floor to ceiling, 16'x8 ' or only above the chair rail 16'x3' I'm still debating wainscotting the room, if I do it's an easier decision
Any experience here? pitfalls, things i need to consider
any preferred printing companies anyone has?
color scheme of image, the one I like is pretty dark, what color should the flanking walls be?

As always some fab points. I have considered price but the cost of paper was far less than having every wall skimmed but to be honest paper was more feasible for the time frame as there is no chain we can complete quickly. The 3 living rooms come off the hall and the bottom one is straight ahead of the front door which will be the dining room so I was thinking wallnut floor in hall and dining room but I'd like to have carpet in the other 2 reception rooms which will be library and sitting room as I have wood floors now in my sitting room and as much as I love the way it looks I feel like I'm forever cleaning it. It seams silly to place pet the hall though especially with children's muddy feet. There is no cornices in any of the upstairs rooms so I think brick effect paper will work well in the master. I'm stil not sure wetha to do all walls or just feature wall. We have wallnut furniture which I love so I think it will be a fab room. My daughters room I'm most excited bout it's just trying to decide how much of which colour more Grey or more pink or equal both I'm leaning more towards more grey because it will be easy to change the pink as she ages. My step son is difficult as he had probably had a different room every year in our house as he's aged he's gone from toy story to batman to Barcelona fc. So now I'm saying no to themed rooms. I was thinking maybe a mural on the wall behind the bed maybe black and white New York sky line or something and keep everything else very simple black and white??? The floor boards aren't in great condition and I know I probably stand alone when I say this but I don't actually like the look of original floor boards unless they are perfect. I agree with the decor flowing through the house and aside from the kids rooms it will all be pretty neutral. The dining room leads out into a beautiful garden so I was toying with trying to bring the outside in with some nature tones I'm just not sure how to go about it? Any suggestions for a dining table colour as it will sit on wallnut floor or am I just being picky and it doesn't really matter, just in my head an oak table on wallnut floor doesn't look great. Wish I'd taken pictures so I could show before and after I'll have to remember to when we move

Hi you mention a white with a hint of grey for the units - have a look at Farrow & Ball Strong White. Colours that F&B recommend with Strong White are Elephants Breath and Skimming Stone (which fit with your mushroom idea). I think I'd go with the Skimming Stone on the walls. Both of these colours would work with your flooring but have enough grey in them to work with your extension. I wouldn't keep your larder the same colour but if you wanted to introduce another colour to the scheme I'd paint the larder and maybe the island unit in Elephants Breath.

So many different ones out there and what better feature for the kids. Granted, not easy on the adult eye necessarily but something the kids will never forget. I always remember thinking how cool my mum was for letting me paint a rainbow mural on my bedroom wall hen i was about 11yrs old!

I think the lighter fern fabric for the curtains would look very nice. And then linen, hessian, grey with pink warm undertone for the walls and ceiling, that the curtains almost blend in, and dark tone black shade for the window frame and the door. You can paint the nightstands black (if I can convince you to add a crystal knob. Alix’s pax handle looks really nice on black) and black low bookshelf in the corner where you have your shelves now, but window height and tour prints above it . Are you keeping that desk in your bedroom or is it for your daughter’s room? You are keeping it, put it under the window with your table mirror on it. Hessian fabric on the wardrobe door and paint the ridges black also. I would go with hessian fabric outside of the glass, it not entirely sure how difficult it is to do, tbh. if You put the fabric inside the glass you’d need to use a transparent glue. You are very good with diy, should be able to do it. If the fabric goes outside of the glass it will have a very different effect from the one if it goes under the glass.
