I have been running my soft furnishings company for over 8 years and I would say 95% of clients choose pleated heading curtains rather then eyelet curtains. This is because eyelet curtains can tend to look a little 'off the shelf' and hand pleated curtains look more luxurious. :-)

I personally would go with pale, neutral traditional style curtains as you have quite a lot of colour already. Laura Ashley do some gorgeous ones either ready made (not too pricey) or made to measure (pricier!). I have a very similar rug to yours! I have Laura Ashley Baroque in Cranberry in my bay window. It's quite neutral but with little splashes or red. Photo below. If that's a bit too pricey, I noticed Dunelm do similar ones in their ready made section. Good luck!

There are loads of colour ways that you can jump in with that would be complementary. You just need to have a bit of a play and decide how much drama you would like at your window. You talk about cost as being a factor, and for the size of the window, I think you would find that blinds and curtains depending on your choice can come out at a similar sort of cost. Also as you have a lovely bay window, you may want to consider dressing the edges with 'decorative' curtains, that are styled, but never pulled. And then go for blinds for functionality. However - I would also consider the heating in your house. As a general rule, curtains retain more heat than blinds. If you want to discuss colours etc further, I'd be more than happy to have a chat. And please post what you go with in the end. I would love to see the finished article.

Hello. I'm not sure if I am in right place but I just didn't find a topic about DYI windows blinds so maybe it would be useful not only for me. I and my wife after a year finally finished our home rework. Of course, there still is a lot of work to do, but at least now we can live there :huray: . The first thing that annoys us a lot is disturbing morning sun. We can't get enough sleep, because of it. So we started looking for windows blinds. So far we decided that we want roller blinds. But after long research, we find out that there is an option to get customized blinds and even create our own. So now there is a question, is anyone has tried it, or something similar and maybe could share their thoughts about quality and is it even worth it?

Hello helenbu the chimney breast was finished in a bronze, polished plaster. The flooring is a reclaimed, antique oak. Kind regards.
