Yes, please. Hiding the ugly necessities of daily living so that they are easily accessible. Without this, the grandest interior scheme goes to pot in the face of children's and the grandparents' needs - especially when they share the same space. AND DISABLED grandparents' needs - and accoutrements!

Craig, your question on Lighting Control. The rise of LED has brought new dimension to the lighting control debate. Lighting Control Systems such as Lutron are the best way to dim LED. We use Lighting Control Systems with 0-10v, DALI and DMX dimming and it's possible to get very smooth dimming to really low levels. I don't really want to suggest one system over another. I'm sure they all have their strengths. Rako offers wireless flexibility for retrofit applications, Lutron has a superb heritage and history of fantastic reliability. I'd look for dealers who are really experienced in using the system and a manufacturer with a strong local support infrastructure. I agree with all of the comments, move the sofa up a little towards the door to fit a floor lamp. Add a rug and coffee table (maybe glass) and a large piece of art over the sofa. I'd opt for blinds for the window, even if you have short curtains it looks as if they'd sit on the back of the sofa? Perhaps a mirror opposite the window to bounce more light. Any number of colours would go with the charcoal sofa, purples, yellow, cerise, coral, orange etc. just look at colours you like and maybe add a 2nd for interest. I'd also pick at least one cushion with a light colour in the pattern and the same for the rug. Do try and get different textures too. In terms of the bedroom, just walnut is pretty light so I do think a darker feature wall would work with the light carpet but I would personally go for a grey. Maybe have a look at grasscloths or silk effect. I've found an image, ignore the actual wallpaper, but it may help you visualise. I would just keep your curtains in the same light grey as the walls and the bedding light.

Hello, I’ve just had these fitted, my electrician is very helpful, he recommended these ones. They are both dimmable. 1st photo - These ones are fire rated as there is a room above and have been fitted in the kitchen. They are very low profile and apparently all his clients love them! Apparently they were pricey a few months ago but they have come down a lot in price now. There is no ‘bulb’, it’s all one piece and looks very neat. 2 photo - these are also good and have been fitted in the extension part with pitched roof as the lights need to be angled. I would go for warm lights not cool. I’ve just had them installed today and just getting use to all the brightness along with a white kitchen with white walls lol.
