Wood Floor Bathroom
Comments (4)Hi @djchewitt , is it possible for you to upload an image of the flooring? without seeing it its hard to advise. With a wooden floor we often have call for white tiles or marble effect tiles. Greys can work too (they seem to work with everything). I would advise a light grey though. As for format I would always advise a 300mm x 600mm tile laid in a landscape fashion. It stretches the room out to the eye and makes it feel a bit bigger. Also you will end up with less grout (so cleaning is easier). Our clients usually fully tile a room, simply because the more busy the walls the smaller the room tends to feel. Hopefully that all makes sense and helps a bit. If you upload an image I can see if I can suggest any particular tiles. Good luck!...See MoreWooden flooring in bathroom - advice needed
Comments (7)In theory if it's a floor paint it should be able to handle the moisture. I would recommend an oil top coat just to make sure but I'm confident as long as it's a genuine floor paint moisture won't be a problem. It's a lot of work if you want to strip the floor boards etc but my real concern is the finish as it wouldn't exactly be waterproof...See MoreWood floor or carpet?
Comments (5)I would carpet upstairs other than the bathroom obviously. I would probably have engineered wood flooring throughout downstairs as it's more forgiving with changes in temperature/humidity. Having the same flooring or same colour throughout increases the feeling of space. The other option for downstairs is karndean or amtico or have you looked at wood effect tiles? Although I have it myself I wouldn't opt for dark wood flooring if you're worried about maintenance, it needs cleaning every day, a mid colour is much more forgiving. I find wood is much more durable than carpet. I wouldn't go too light on an upstairs carpet, maybe a dove grey...See MoreBathroom design help please!! :)
Comments (13)Hello comegetme, I think tiles and paint can work well... You could even have two colours... Like the wooden blind for the window and you've pretty much nailed the placement... What about having a wall hung loo.... This gives an even gr8r level of space and means if it's boxed in.. you get another shelf. For folded towels? Reed sticks... What about thinking more on the spa theme with stone tiles.... Stone flooring... Tile Magic has a really amazingly affordable range.. (see image) but get samples! With marble or any stone- it must have a protective coating/seal which is not visible but it will mean that the marble or stone is protected.. There are some nice slates too, that could be nice... I rather like these marbles below, or you could choose a travertine, or a marble looking tile... From £1.70 or so a tile... It's probably the most affordable I have ever seen... I would say get samples of any you like and sit them in the room and see how they work with the light... Even if you compliment it with a painted wall....Choosing accessories very carefully can also bring a really luxurious feel on a small budget.. What about a bamboo ladder for towels....... The shower screen I would say doesn't need to move, you just step in from the bottom end.. and I'd choose straight edges and have an invisible fixing.. Ie no chrome edges... : ))...See MoreNorren Bird
