archtictual, not pleated blinds - where can I source these from

I have a glass roofed side return in my kitchen which is lovely at letting in loads of light as my kitchen faces south west, however the glare and heat can get too much and is bleaching out the wood on my walnut table and kitchen cabinets - any suggestions for as to who could supply architecturally pleasing electronic blinds?

Hi Nikki, we went with Thomas Sanderson blinds and originally went with the manual version but they didnt work very well so they upgraded our blinds for free to the battery operated version and they are great. Not 'blackout' as advertised but still pretty good. We paid around £4000 I think but if we were to have paid for the battery blinds it would have been £7500. Wish there was a better option but they seemed to be our only choice that would ensure our view was unobstructed and the room was dark. Hope that helps!

No problem. I think I'd be tempted by the Pleated blinds as you can have the sheer fabric you wanted. With the Roller blinds, they include a opaque stripe with a translucent stripe which you can then slide against each other to create opaque opaque for privacy or light control. They aren't available in blackout fabrics unfortunately - I'm not sure why the fabrics wouldn't be showing, but they're available in two ranges - cascade and lustre. Lustre has just that, a slight shimmer, and the colours range from neutrals, to black, silver, gold and red. We get asked this question a lot, and that is why we sell integrated or integral blinds which are totally enclosed within the glass cavity of the double glazed unit, and are available for most of the doors and windows we sell. They can be manually or electrically operated, are available in a range of colours, and have Venetian or pleated versions. They can be closed for complete privacy, opened to any angle for different shading or raised up almost completely out of the way. Aside from enclosing all the working parts (safe for toddlers), they enhance the thermal efficiency of the unit they are enclosed within and will never need cleaning! You can upgrade existing doors and windows, although if you are purchasing new, ask your supplier about Uni-blinds Integral Blinds beforehand.

Hi Danni, Shutters would look fabulous with your Parisian style - they are famed for their gorgeous continental look. You ask about different styles, so I'll post a few examples for you to get a feel for them: This lilac shutter is the full-height style. That means the shutter covers the whole of the window and there is no split in the middle. It's also a custom colour choice - where you can match your shutter to practically any paint colour shade. These shutters are tier-on-tier. This means that the top and bottom slats operate independently of each other, so you can have the top ones folded back while still keeping privacy with the bottom ones closed. Finally, these shutters are café-style which means they only cover the bottom half of the window. They're perfect if you're after the privacy, but still want to make the most of the light or show off a feature such as stained glass.
