We're going through the same as you as we are having to replace our very expensive sisal runners with their beautiful black taping after only 5.5 years. Would strongly recommend against sisal anywhere, but particularly on the stairs. Any dirt, spilt drinks, splashes of water result in stains that even professional carpet cleaners cant get out. The pile is too short and it all gets embedded in those lovely ridges. They shrink away from the skirting board quickly because they cant be pinned down like normal carpet so it quickly looks tatty and we're only 3 people including an unusually clean and tidy child. Our carpenter had found the doors we like in Howdens but we found them for a much lower price on this site - the doors are exactly the same. Worked out to around £90 per door. All hinges and handles from ironmongery direct.

Hi Emily, I recently had a Velux 14” rigid tube one installed in my shower room which has no windows. It is brilliant and lets in plenty of light even on an overcast day. The light fitting gives a similar level of light at night. The cost depends a lot on the amount of tube needed - mine was £450 from roofing superstore who were really helpful and gave lots of advice. I can’t say about fitting as it was part of a bigger job, but was apparently easy for my builder to fit within a day and wasn’t done as part of re-roofing. The 1st photo is with the door closed and no flash.

We're not actually having plywood underneath.. as it's not needed due to having concrete mostly, but we've got quite a hefty crack between the existing and extension so there is some repair work to be done there, and an additional screed that they need due to the type of flooring we have in part of the existing house.. Karndean – Van Gogh @ £52 Sqm Latex Floor Screed @ £10 Sqm we had some other quotes that came in at £60 and another that came in higher (most didn't break it down to the sqm price, just the end quote) But because we're having carpets done upstairs and a large area downstairs they then did us a bit of a deal and knocked off some off the overall price...
