Garden bed width?

Hi all, I'm a complete garden novice!!! Does anyone know how wide and high garden beds like those shown in the photo should be?
We've designed our garden and have allowed 600mm total width for the beds (that includes the brick and render, and want to plant something similar to the photo). Is that too narrow? Thank you.

Comments (6)I love the idea of the circular lawn @mii2, alas we have a giant trampoline to fit in and my hubbie has vetoed the idea of taking away too much of the lawn lest there’s not enough space for the kids to play abs a seating area at the far right corner where we get the most sun. Comments (0)Hi Buying a house and the garden rear has a raised up about 1m where you can see all the flowers at the back. Is it possible to clear this up, dig and bring back to ground level? Most of the rear neighbours gardens have this too. Whats used to raise this level is is cement /concrete usually? Comments (0)Standard regulations when building less than 2m from a boundary state a maximum height of 2.5m. There is no mention of a restriction on the permitted width in the regulations. At Inside Out Oxford, we regularly build across the complete width of Victorian terrace gardens (typically between 4m and 6m wide). The maximum size is determined by the restriction that you are not allowed to consume more than 50 percent of the garden for any building projects as measured in the original curtilage. This means that extensions and so on count towards that consumption of space. Be careful about the total size, however. The maximum permitted footprint could be quite large, based on the curtilage, but it’s safe to say that anything over 30m2 should probably be checked. You can apply for a Certificate of Lawful Development, which is a rubber-stamping of your designs and equivalent to permission from the planning authority.
